It's a wee bit heavy and the instructions say don't lever with it . The handle feels like. It may break if using excessive force but using it I found it did cut through roots fairly well and itcut into compacted soil easily .would I buy it again yes

It is more than a spade. It does what it says on the tin. Like all tools treat them with care and work within their limits and they last for years. Quailty is good and easy to assemble its performance is robust and sturdy. Its Versatility is as claimed on telly advert. Its appearance is a bit dinosaur like, but it cuts. Its an all round 5 star tool. Take care of tools treat them with respect and use within their limits. Clean them and they will last for years. Many well cared for tools are passed down from generation to generation. I can see this being handed down.

Very good saved a lot of hard work

This spade is an absolute beast at breaking through compacted tough soil and roots. BUT, the shaft design needs to change. The plastic parts are not strong enough to take the pounding. As the spade length is quite long, the spade can travel deeply into soil (if you are strong enough) but the plastic parts of the spade let it down and start to crack and will eventually break causing the handle area to spin. So, either change the shaft / handle design, or shorten the length of the spade so it cannot enter soil as deep.
