Professional quality weather station
If you want a real weather station, Davis Vantage Pro2 is a great choice. I opted for wireless communication and the aspirated temperature/humidity sensor. The quality of the components is very good—definitely professional class. The new console has much improved functionality compared with the older version, including built-in data logging. It's not the least expensive or the easiest to install, but it's definitely worth the price and the effort.

Arrived broken and not fully wireless!
I was really excited to finally get this weather station I've been wanting for years. When it arrived, I was shocked at how huge and heavy it was—nothing like the pictures showed. Mounting it on the roof was my plan, but it's way too heavy for a standard pole. Plus, even though it's supposed to be wireless, the anemometer is wired. The 40 feet of cable isn't enough to properly set it up on a two-story house and avoid the heat source. I think the information on Amazon is misleading. It's not Amazon's fault, but the manufacturer needs to be clearer about the size and the fact that the anemometer isn't wireless. To top it off, the unit arrived broken. The shaft connecting the wind cups to the anemometer was broken, so I couldn't even attach them. For over $1000, this was extremely disappointing. In my opinion, this is a clunky and overpriced item. I would love to see a device like this a lot more condensed, streamlined, and 100% wireless. The technology is there; they just need to utilize it better. I'm returning it ASAP and asking for a full refund. I know others might have had better experiences, but I'd be careful spending this kind of money unless you plan to mount it close to the ground. Hope this helps someone.

You better hope nothing goes wrong
I was very happy to replace my old unit (25+ years) with this newest model. Assembly was easy and I installed it where I had my old one - in the middle of a grassy yard about 250 feet from my office. Immediately the weather instruments would not communicate with the console. I got nothing but the inside readings. I called tech support and waited for about 75 minutes to talk with an agent. After 30 minutes, there was no easy fix. He suggested a hard start. Next day, no change. Next he wanted to have me check the main board on the outside unit. REALLY ! This should have been a quality control check before it was sent out. Thankfully I was able to return it via Amazon.com. I ordered another. The signal strength was still weak so I moved it to about 50 feet from my office, not a better spot. The signal strength goes up and down. When it is down, no information is recorded. It goes down for over 30 minutes a couple of times a day. I have emailed Davis Weather tech support 3 times now. The first response suggested adjustments I have already made. I have yet to hear back from my other emails dating 7 days ago and the most recent 2 days ago. OBVIOUSLY, their customer service is VERY POOR. ALSO, why is it that my old unit never missed a beat? It was 200 feet further away (along the same line of sight)? Did I get two expensive lemons? Sadly, the return Amazon.com window has closed on this unit.
