I got this to hold the battery down on my MX-5, and it works a charm. Installing it was quick and easy, and it does the job well. No shifting or moving around from the battery once this was in! At the current price (£7) it's a good value, too. Recommended!

Does what it is designed to do at a cheap price.
The kit contains all you need to secure a battery in place, but you will need some DIY skills. Being universal it has to have the versality to fit all batteries. I have a type 096, which is a medium to large size battery (278L x 175W x 190H). Unfortunately the design of the rods is such that the threaded part only starts from about 220mm. This meant I had to use some tube spacers between the cross bracket and wing nuts. Others I have seen are threaded the whole of their length, which makes more sense, The cross bracket is expandable to fit various width batteries. One I fitted the assembly I ditched the central wing nut in favour of a Nyloc nut, as I don't want it to work loose. Both threaded sections of the rods had to be cut down as they are ridiculously long. On the plus side (intended pun) it is very sturdy and the cross bracket appears to have some form of powder coating, which should protect it from rusting.

Easy to install. Minimal tools needed.
Took 10 mins to install. Needed to drill one hole in the battery tray and cut the bolts once installed. Battery now fixed in place.

Ideal for my Kia
Brought a Kia Ceed second hand late last year and the battery was long overdue replacing - picked up a cheap one which was ‘supposed to fit’ according to the supplier but absolutely no way to secure it - instant MOT failure.Got this and was able to secure the battery to the tray with a bit of fiddling - car sailed through its MOT.
