Exotic Sounding
My primary reason for looking at unconventional salts was not for any kind of magical healing powers, but because I've learned how bad chemically processed salts are for you.I'm all for marketing even if it makes your product sound like it came right from the heavens... but I'm also for doing your own research."Himalayan Salts" don't come from the mountains themselves... instead it typically comes from Pakistan a few hundred miles away. That's not to necessarily say the mineral deposits wouldn't have come from the mountains, but it sounds a lot less exotic when you find it's the same stuff that's used to salt the roads over there. There are a lot of varying reports on Himalayan salt... many suggesting that it is indeed high in lots of great minerals, but any balanced report seems to suggest it's also be high in other stuff you don't want too much of, such as fluoride.... The supposed ancient lake this salt came from is from the dinosaur age, but just look what happened to them ;).I'm not sure what to believe now, but when I realized I was wasting way too much time I decided I'd just switch to French Gray Sea Salt also sold by the Spice Lab... If you check The Spice Lab's website, they've actually got a link to their supplier in France who seems to have been around for hundreds of years harvesting salt the old fashioned way free of any chemical/artificial processing... Many of their workers have even been in the salt harvesting industry for many generations. Sounds good to me, much less fairy tail like. In comparison, I watched a video online about Himalayan salts and the lady said it was important that Himalayan Salts be removed by hand to preserve it's good vibrations....I'm positive that this Himalayan salt is many times better than ordinary table salt, and it tastes great too! But to best accomplish what I set out to do, I think the French Gray Salt sounds like a no-nonsense quality product that fits the bill.

Pure Natural Goodness
I was happy with this product purchase. I had used pink Himalayan salt before this purchase and found it was far superior to regular commercial table salt. This product is also less processed than commercial table salt. I find that I use less quantity of the Himalayan Pink salt in order to enhance the flavor of foods to the same degree as commercially processed salt (which I gave up using). The Himalayan salt brings out the flavors of the food more, rather than just adding a "salty" taste. Other reviewers have questioned the purity of this salt and the unusual pink color which they think comes from chemicals added or something impure about the product. That is inaccurate. When I first learned about Himalayan pink salt I had seen it in a large block. The block of salt was made into a night lamp by the company selling it. I was intrigued and bought it to use on my nightstand. The salt block table lamp is indeed pink with varigated streaks and shades of pink. It is real salt that can be flaked/scratched/chipped easily off the block. So, I know it is a pure natural product, including the color. I recommend this Himalayan salt product to anyone who wants to enhance the flavor of their food and it is economical because you can use less salt and get wonderful flavor.

Bad processing care, but still salt
NON-GMO? Well, definitely since salt doesn't have DNA to modify. No Chemicals? Salt itself is a chemical, although no ADDED chemicals may be better for a description. This however may or may not be true. Either way, both labels are illegal in the USA, and the bag clearly states that this is NOT allowed to be marketed in such a way.For me, this was not a selling point. However, pictured are small bags of varying iron content salt crystals. This is find, because they state that it is a fine grind, so I expected the fine grind and not crystals. However, they failed to mention that you are not getting small bags of salt in about 1 pound sizes, as shown, but you are getting a large 5 pound bag. Not a huge problem, I can split it up but this was not the plan. I was hoping for an easy method of distributing the product in the ways I wanted. Now the bit OOPS on the vendors part, outside of the other issues: This is bagged loosely, without a care to reduce air pockets or problems. There is no oxygen absorbers (not really needed, salt doesn't go stale) or moisture absorbents (VERY MUCH needed, salt clumps together with moisture and can attract certain bacteria, especially with the iron content....at least in the large bags. If I received the small ones this would not be an issue). So now I have clumpy and possibly unusable salt in bags far too big to be safely managed without proper care.It is obvious that this product was cheaply packed with very little care . I received what I ordered, but everything else about this is misleading and profiteering at best. Save your money and go for another brand that sells the real stuff and actually cares how they process it.

finer ground than table salt and more flavor
Ok there is a recent spate of idiots commenting here so this biologist must respond. When it says chemical and pesticide free they mean that unlike sea salt mined directly from sea water there isnt any pollutants in it just sodium chloride and trace minerals. Yes it is silly to call it GMO free when no one can genetically modify salt! Nor can it be organic in food terms since it isnt grown, but mined. They are appealing to peoples ignorance using those buzz terms but the product is very good, tasy and every bag I get has the definite light pink from its iron content. It is what it says it is, pink sea salt, finer ground than table salt and more flavor, but not as tasty as Redmond Real Salt but a whole lot less expensive. I suggest you put it in a container in which the holes will prevent rice from going though because the salt is slightly damp; with the rice it flows perfectly! the plastic package is very heavy and protects well.I like the finer ground because I get more flavor with less salt and better distribution on my food. i definitely will buy again!
