I always put a bit of boiling water in the carafe and pour it out prior to putting the coffee in so it stays hot all day. The carafe is light weight and attractive. It is also easy to pour and closes tightly. The original one I got was not horrible, but just little below my expectation, so I gave it a neutral 3-start rating and I did not ask the manufacturer for a replacement, but their customer service was proactive and reached to me to address my concern. And the new replacement is working good after almost a week of usage.
