Useful
I bought this feeder to replace one that had broken and I use it mainly to feed suet pellets and dried mealworms. Its a nice size to hang from my feeder pole and being mesh and with a cover the suet pellets don't sit in rainwater. When it arrived there were no instructions but having had a similar one previously I was aware of how to put it together apart from a small allen key which was provided. Fortunately I had read previous reviews and someone else had provided the answer - it goes in the tiny hole at the base of the pole to secure the base. Two things I'm not very keen on are 1) the tray sits slightly at an angle to the perspex cover and 2) the hook isn't curved enough so I'm pretty sure it will blow off the pole in windy weather. Nevertheless its a useful feeder but only time will tell how long it lasts.

Great for deterring pigeons!
I bought this a while ago as I was fed up with pigeons taking up residence on the open mesh tray I had - they'd just sit there pecking away & then have the audacity to use it as a loo - with others queuing up on the fence waiting for their turn! This feeder is brilliant! The smaller birds were a bit wary at first but soon got used to it. It needs a bit of trial & error to get the height right because, although it deterred the pigeons initially, I did catch sight of one cheeky one who'd managed to get in there with his head tucked under the cover - but once you've got it right, it's a godsend. HOWEVER, it is not squirrel proof - thanks to a squirrel hanging upside down on the feeding station pole & dragging it towards it with its foot, the mesh basket has now broken away from the centre rod. I am most definitely going to get another one of these, but this time I'm also going to get a baffle to deter the squirrels! I will get this bird feeding thing right one day!

quality control
as a feeder looks good adjustable clear plastic cover which can be lowered to keep out larger birds if needed or removed completely easy to put together looks like a well designed item should be no need for any negative comments but alas let down by the suppliers quality control plastic cover was cracked and a small piece missing i can live with that the packaging was good and undamaged but that missing piece was no where to be seen which means damaged BEFORE it was packed shame to see a nice feeder let down that way

The birds love it
Most impressed with the final proudct, the threads on the metal rod are not cut properly so had to be carefull not to damage the nuts it came with, did it iin the end using a spare nut of the same size until it went on properly then all was good without risking the fragile basket. Magpies, Jackdaws and Pigeons will now have to go elsewhere, they cant get in now as we've closed the lid down, it can still get starling size birds in though. most impressed.

NOT suitable for live mealworms
This product is the top result for the search phrase “live mealworm feeder”, but it is not at all suitable for feeding live mealworms. It is not easy to tell from the picture, and I didn’t notice, that the base is made of wire mesh. Perfect for a mealworm to climb up and out of the tray!I’m giving it a good score because it seems a well-made product, but Amazon: please teach your search engine that this product should not be in the results for “live mealworm feeder”.

Easy to assemble but wonky
It's easy enough to assemble, but I agree with other reviewers who've found the finished product to be a bit wonky. The plastic 'roof' I imagine is quite vulnerable to cracking if the nut is over tightened. The mesh base seems solid enough. Two days in and the smaller birds seem to like it, so we'll see how it holds up over the next few weeks/months. The price viewpoint depends entirely on how long mine lasts!

Disappointed
I am disappointed with this product as it ended up on the floor, broken within days. It’s now held together with superglue and a cable tie. The bigger birds try to get on which makes it swing and it must make it spin as it’s been on th3 floor a few times and I have to screw it back together.
