A good robust iron. Good value for money. Takes a while to get hot for professional leaded light work,and requires constant cleaning of the tip (after 5 to 8 joints) to keep its heat up to a level for a consistent continuous run of joints. If not,mass build up of solder and flux will reduce the heat and make it impossible to work at maximum potential. Forget all the iron tip cleaners you see and keep a good piece of medium grade wire wool at hand. If it's clean it works a treat.

Wanted to make up some car battery leads. This soldering iron is impressive, the tip is huge and pumps an impressive amount of heat into the job. Takes a little while to heat up which is to be expected but once there it easily soldered the battery connectors. Great for those bigger jobs!

This unit is built to work.

Looks and feels like a very substantial and good quality iron, and I'm sure it could solder just about anything, but be aware that the nib is enormous - 1/2" or 12.5mm diameter and very long (and heavy). The photo makes it look more precise! Probably great for jobs where you have good access to the work, but I needed to work in more awkward spaces and there's just no way I'd get the nib in there! Decided to return and exchange for a slightly less ridiculous iron..

This is the best soldering iron I have ever used. I used it to splice three wires into a tractor cab loom which other smaller soldering irons and a gas soldering torch would not do to a satisfactory standard this soldering iron soldered them with ease and speed and created a very professional finish. I’d highly recommend buying this soldering iron!

The Soldering Iron comes with flat-pack metal stand which has to be bent to shape. This is well worth doing as the iron gets very hot and the stand creates a stable platform on which to rest it.The Iron is very solidly built and takes several minutes to reach full heat. Once reached, this iron is capable of tackling large jobs where high residual heat is required ie jump start cables, heat sinks etc.
