returning this item. damper rod is too short

Steel rod holding damper is very short on outside edge,if you get it to hot the metal expands and your damper will fall out and you'll have tear your chimney apart to fix it,otherwise it's a far cry better than the insert ones,will shut down fire completely..

Fire place damper well made

The spring pulls the rod to much as the rod isn't very long, pulling it out of the far hole. The rod moves almost 1/2 turn before the flap moves. I welded the rod to the flap, shortened the spring and secured the far end with a push nut. Basically cheaply engineered.

Good thing I have a welder and can weld otherwise would have been a waste or whatever it cost which is over priced to begin with the male side of the pivot point wasn’t held in at all had to weld a washer to it to keep it all together as far as I’m concerned waste of money
