Jimmy Carr marks 10 successful years in comedy with the release of his most controversial DVD to date, Telling Jokes. Featuring over 90 minutes of material that’s just too rude for television, the new DVD sees Jimmy Carr at his best; unleashing his delightfully crafted one-liners upon the nation and putting down brave hecklers. Slick, sick and definitely not for the easily offended, Jimmy offers a masterclass in comedy as he takes his dry and sardonic wit to a whole new level. And it seems that no-one and nothing is safe from Jimmy’s cutting remarks as he delves into a diverse range of subjects including religion, sex, bullying and somewhat ironically political correctness ... As Jimmy explains: “It’s not for the faint hearted (the faint hearted should also avoid salt).” The DVD also features a stack of exclusive extras from Britain’s foremost, multi-award-winning joke technician. Bonus Material Jimmy’s Twitter Diary – The best of Jimmy’s ‘140 character’ messages, thoughts, ideas and photos sent whilst on tour using the popular social networking site Twitter are brought to life in this 20 minute extra. Comedy Central Special – His critically acclaimed half-hour stand-up performance filmed live in New York. Bonus Stand-up Material – Exclusive unseen out-takes and deleted scenes

2009 show
Compared to Jimmy Carr Live - Laughing and Joking [DVD ] I didn't laugh quite as much, when watching this one (Telling Jokes) - but it's possibly because it's now quite an old DVD and so some of the material I've seen in clips on the web or via other DVDs (as extras). DVD sales seem to be falling off a cliff now and this past couple of weeks Comedy Central has been showing most of JC's DVD shows. The Twitter stuff isn't worth watching but the Bonus Material was great. It's out-take stuff that should've been in the main DVD - stuff like a make up artist wandering on to powder his face - or a cameraman suddenly appearing at the back of the stage. For anyone that has seen Jimmy in one of his mainstream shows (Cats Does Countdown etc.) then approach with caution as his stage show is very near the knuckle. Personally - I love both and find him funniest when he's reacting to audience heckles. For less than £4 - I thought it was well worth it and parts of it made me laugh like a drain.

Occasionally funny - highly likely to offend unless you're very broad-minded.
If you're familiar with Jimmy Carr to any extent, then you probably know that he likes to tell jokes that are likely to offend. This show includes jokes about rape, people with Downs syndrome and paedophilia, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm really not at all sure if he stays on the right side of acceptability. He also swears a lot including repeated use of the C-word. There is also a lot of sexual content here. It's an 18 certificate, and as I say, if you know anything about Jimmy Carr, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. I don't mind the swearing or the stuff about sex. Some of the other stuff, I'm just not sure about. But the bottom line for me is that I just didn't laugh all that much. There are some good bits, but not that many I'm afraid. I found myself watching the clock, waiting for it to end.

Great in parts, but not a patch on his previous shows
I'm an avid fan of Jimmy Carr, have bought his previous stand-up DVDs, and absolutely loved them.Telling Jokes is a similar format. Plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, and he proves he's still king of the heckler put-downs. You know what to expect with this guy, and if you don't like smut then you should avoid. That said, a lot of the routine seems a little directionless, using abuse without marrying it to humour, to the point where "yeah I f****d your mum" starts to wear a little thin. However, as a DVD it's worth buying. The good outweighs the bad, and I suspect hardcore Carr fans will find plenty there to love about it.

FUNNY... BUT SAME OLD, SAME OLD.
If you've seen Jimmy doing live stand up recently, or seen most of his shows on TV, or have his other DVDs.... then you know what to expect. He knows his stuff, he knows the intricacies of joke construction and telling, read his book The Naked Jape. But don't expect to hear anything you haven't heard from him already..... try Rhod Gilberts DVD..... thats a riot.

Jimmy Carr: "Telling jokes"
Jimmy Carr "telling jokes" is again another example of Jimmy's awasome humour at it's very best. His delivery combined with "cutting edge" material allways goes long ways to make you laugh. Jimmy allways pushes the evelope when it comes to humour, telling jokes, offending people and pushing the limits of decency. If your a Jimmy Carr fan then this is a Dvd you should diffenatly watch.

As funny as ever
Jimmy Carr at his best. His humour is great, he delivers the jokes brilliantly, but watching him engaging with audience (and taking on hecklers) that's real pleasure. I probably wouldn't buy the front row seat, but look forward to seeing him on Rapier Wit Tour next year.
