Tobira II: Beginning Japanese (Tobira Beginning Japanese) (Japanese Edition)

First of all- the use of color in this book is awesome! I am a 40 yr old woman and I am continuing my Japanese studies for my own benefit- I don't want to be bored to death with all black and white text and stick figures everywhere. The color pictures, and actual color photos all help to break up the monotony and keeps my interest longer. I really like having the option of working with vocabulary either with images, or just typed in lists. The grammar breakdown portion of each chapter is good and has lots of examples- i do wish they would have broken up this section with some color as well though to help the eyes. However, you can watch a video on their site that gives the same info in a lecture if that is better for you to learn from There are plenty of exercises to practice with and the recordings available to go with them are good. I find the grammar explanation videos to be a little lacking though. There are no answers available for the self learner to check with though. The reading sections seem really good so far as well. I work with Japanese coworkers and one of them is very interested in how Japanese is taught to English speakers, so I have showed him my textbooks in the past. When I showed him this one, he was immediately surprised " It has real conversations! This is how people really talk!" He was also really interested in the pitch accent information. He was fascinated with it because he had seen no mention of it in any of my previous textbooks lol. It is also very nice to have a book that references current trends and information. The kanji list in the front of the book is also very nice. It also lists the kanji learned in the beginners volume I which i have not used. It was nice to see what kanji I might need to brush up on before diving into the first chapter of this book.

Me agrada los dibujos que contiene te ayuda mucho para entender más el idioma, la guía de PRONUNCIACIÓN CORRECTA está buenísima, los ejemplos en lenguaje tanto formal como informal, me agrada, lo único que no me agradó fué el color azul para resaltar, tal vez se hubiesen usado un color rojo clarito combinado con ese mejoraría, pero tiene mucho azul. Aun así lo recomiendo

Muy buen libro. Contiene un extenso vocabulario y mucha ayuda visual.

Great product for knowledge upgrade

The book's conduction is good but I miss Minna no Nihongo. Tobira isn't suitable for non-English speaking countries.
