Full of functions.
I like this device. It is full of usefull functions. Sound quality is very good. Built quality is also good. It is value for money. But in my device the bluetooth was not working. So I have to return it back. However I am ordering for another one without defect.

I was looking for a high-resolution digital audio player to connect to my stereo receivers and other audio players (with auxiliary input) as a source of my music in lieu of using CDs. After review of several high-definition units on the market I chose the RUIZU A55 primarily for its internal storage capacity and playback of 320 kbps bit rate MP3 music files. A significant amount of my digital audio collection is at this high bit rate which obviously impacts storage limitations. I purchased the necessary stereo cables to plug into my various units. How does it work and sound plugged into these units? Great! At this juncture I do not foresee use of a SDHC micro expansion card unless I want to store my entire digital music collection for playback access and as another means for backup. Adding music to the internal memory was easy via Windows 10. I organize by artist then by album. I use the Favorites mode to create playlists and add songs to the playlists as I listen to a particular song. I can play songs sequentially or using the shuffle option. This internal battery is advertised to have a long life before charging. I can always plug the provided USB C adaptor cord into a typical cell phone charger that outputs 5 volts with a minimum of 1.0 AMP if I am using the unit for an extended time. The delete song from memory capability is convenient to manage space as needed. Other reviewers have covered the attributes of the RUIZU A55 well and will not add to that other to say I agree with their comments. I have used the e-mail customer service and found it responsive and helpful. Would I recommend this unit to potential buyers? Of course! A few recommendations to the manufacturer: 1. The manual is too brief and needs to be expanded with more detail on how to accomplish certain tasks. It also needs to be in a PDF for downloading. 2. The manufacturer's web page does not show this unit for firmware and documentation support. 3. I had initial issues with my Windows 10 computer recognizing this unit. After research on the internet, I was able to resolve the issue (UNKNOWN USB DEVICE (DEVICE DESCRIPTER REQUEST FAILED). Windows has stopped this device.). I have conveyed this issue and solution to RUIZU service support. A recommendation for Amazon from which I purchased this unit: 1. This product does not show up on the searches as readily as the HiFi Walker H2; SURFANS F20; PHINISTEC 80gb; HIBY R3 PRO SABER; EVISTAR HI-FI. It should. Of note this unit on Amazon has only been available since June 6, 2022.

This device is manufactured by "Shen Zhen Ruizo Digital Technology C.o. Ltd." Model # A55 The device's serial number is available in its menu Device dimensions - 2.5" x 3.5" x .5" There's a built in 64 GB drive - but you can add up to a 512 GB mini SD Card for extra storage space. What else comes with it? -Manual, black simulated leather protective case with a magnetic flap lock, power/data cable (no charger) You might want to order a few more of the protective case to have stored away - for when the original one wears down. Not mentioned on ad here or in manual - The device can also be read by and used on the LINUX operating system for PCs. I'm using a variant of the "Arch" family. It uses the "USB 2.0" data transfer protocol There is no "auto-rotate" feature for the screen - you're stuck in portrait mode. Background Wallpaper - you get a choice of 7 included and a "custom" setting - but no specs are given in the manual on what the type of graphic file, the storage size of the file, resolution or bit size that the new file would have to be - duhhh #1 You can play back any type of previously recorded audio file content - Music, voice or environment sounds There is a "my favorite songs" quick access list/compilation feature that you can build by tapping a heart symbol on every song as you play them that you like more. Five items that annoyed me: 1. Selecting your language for menu surfing - They didn't put the complete instructions for that in the manual - duhhh #2 So, here is how to do it a - When you first you turn on the device, you'll be asked to choose a language b - You do it by tapping your choice on the touch screen c - Now, to "lock your language in" you must then turn the volume knob on top. d - Done! 2. Warning - Don't select the "E-Book" icon from the menu. You'll get stuck in there and the only way to get out is to reboot the device. There's no graphic or physical button option for leaving there. That section is filled with song and track time info for songs that aren't on the device - Why? - duhhh #3 3. The time and date settings (in the general settings list) are present (but grayed out) on that menu. There doesn't seem to be anyway to change them - I'm stuck in 24hr (military time) mode. 4. Blutooth - Didn't work I have 3 wireless earbud sets & one hi-end set with a built in digital assistant that talks to me and tells me if connections are being made, the mic and about volume levels - the player didn't pick up any of them. 5. WiFi - sucks My phone detected 20 devices to connect to. The player detected only 4 - none of them mine.

I purchased this because it was, frankly, the most beautiful and interesting looking music player I could find. And it truly is that. Love the green color and the volume wheel, the bezels, everything about it. While it is quite rugged and could probably survive a relatively serious drop, it is also extremely heavy. One would think that, with that weight might come a pretty sizeable battery. But no--its battery life is not very good. Not only does it not last particularly long playing music, it also loses a lot of battery at idle. If charged fully and then left alone for a few weeks, it seems to lose about half its charge. That might be bearable if it booted quickly and ran smoothly, but it also doesn't do those two things. There's a noticeable lag when tapping menu items before the next part of the menu loads. And after turning on the screen to wake it up, it plays an animation of the Ruizu logo that lasts several seconds, which doesn't sound so bad. But in practice, it is quite annoying to have to sit through that each time you want to quickly load up some tunes. And if you let it sit for up to 8 minutes, then it goes to sleep and you have to wake it up and sit through that logo again. Which also makes me wonder--if it goes into a sleep mode so quickly, then why does it use so much battery when it's asleep? What processes is it running that burn through the battery when it's supposed to be sleeping? My 2009 iPod turned on almost instantly and was much less of a hassle to use. This is an ARM device so it's either underpowered, or has crappy software that bogs down the hardware too much and eats through the battery. Either way, I feel there's no excuse for a device like this to be so slow in the 2020s. Also, this being an appliance without a full operating system like a smartphone, the battery should be significantly better than that of a smartphone. There's no reason this shouldn't be able to last days or weeks on a charge. Besides that, the software has problems. It's not the easiest to navigate, and the back button is small and easy to miss. I wish swipe unlocking could be turned off. The search function doesn't seem to work that well--bringing up tons of results that have nothing to do with what was typed. When you delete a song, it takes you all the way back to the beginning of the menu, so if you want to delete many songs in a row, it's a real hassle to do so. I wish the volume control could move in a higher increment than 1, since it seems like if you want to turn the volume up or down significantly, it takes many, many turns. Despite all that, I do still like this device. I just wish it were better. Maybe a firmware update would help, but I wasn't able to connect it to Wi-Fi to download an update or find an update file (probably user error and I just need to try harder). If you just want something that looks great, has good internal storage, charges via USB-C, has EQ, and can do Bluetooth, (and if you don't mind the above-mentioned shortcomings), I'd say get it.

For the amount of money paid for this unit, it should perform at least almost flawlessly. Unfortunately, that' isn't the case. First, after downloading songs and albums to my laptop, I moved them to "song" and "album folders that I'd created on the Ruiza using the laptop. But when dropping the copies to the file folder "album," I missed and they instead went into the "song" folder. So, of course I simply moved them to the "album" folder, where originally intended. All is good, right? Wrong! On the laptop the albums show up in the "album" folder, but on the Riuza, they ALL show up in the "song" folder! Since I won't be carrying around my laptop with the Riuza, this is a problem. Purely it's an obvious software bug that should have been fixed, but wasn't. Second, the thumb wheel for adjusting the volume is ridiculously insensitive. How insensitive? I counted the number of turns I had to make to go from zero volume to full volume, and from full volume back to zero volume. These were not 360* turns, but the maximum amount of turn you could get out of one motion with your thumb and finger, since that's the only way you can turn the knob to adjust the volumne. It took a count of FORTY TWO turns to get from zero to full volume! It is extremely short-sighted to design and release a product, like that. Fortunately, there is a menu option clearly visible on the user interface for the system to remember the last volume setting. Hopefully, it will work. Third, I haven't used the Riuza beyond what I've described, above. That said, I expect to find a lot more problems with it. Some people are commenting that the battery life is terrible, so that is going to be a concern that I'll be paying attention to. Fourth, I would have appreciated and gladly paid a 5-10% more for a display screen that wasn't so pixelated, and looked so cheap, as do the graphics. I understand the company is trying to meet a certain price point, so doing so might not have been possible without losing sales. Finally, I can say that they sound quality is excellent, and far, far beyond what I expected or have seen in low priced, low quality mpeg players. In summary, if the Riuza engineers would correct the obvious problems with this player, it would be a great product, but that remains to be seen. 7/24/2022 - Update: I've been using this device with a bluetooth receiver, had zero problems connecting, and experienced very good range of about 20 feet.
