Q: Can the baskets be arranged to the front so it’s not so wide?

The two bottom pouches can be rotated inward. Also, if you choose too, you don’t have to have the beds installed. I hope this helps!

Q: Does it need to be attached to a wall? Has anyone not attached it to a wall? If so, how many cats do you have and was it sturdy enough?

I do not have mine tethered to the wall, 3 cats, each about 10 lbs and they are all 3 on it at the same time without the tree moving at all.
