A bit of a disappointment
Overall, this book was pretty good. Good story line and captivatingcharacters. However, it did drag here and there and I would get impatient but then it would pick up. I could get over that. However, the ending just happened. I thought my kindle had fast forwarded me. No. I thought I hit the change page too many times. No. I was at the end. I felt cheated, wanted more. What happened to Fred and Julia? I hate abrupt endings without even a hint of where the story went. So for that, I have to give only 3 stars. Read if you want to learn about medical advances in WWI. Do not read if you don't like to be left hanging.

Excellent and compelling
A clear picture of the nurse's role in World War 1 medicine! Loved the character interaction and their contributions made to modern medicine.

Engaging Historical Novel
The War Nurse was fast-paced, gripping, and informative. The characters were endearing and the plot did a good job of balancing humor and hard moments. The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall this was a good story based on Julia Stimson, a pioneering head nurse/matron in France in World War I.
