EXCITED TO FIND THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Arrived on time and in perfectly sealed condition, excited to find this for my son, it is his most wanted x mas present, he has been studying photography for five years now and has just started his masters, I know very little about photography compared to him but he really wanted this, we are as poor as church mice and this is the only xmas present he has ever asked for in 21 years, thought this might help photographer's parents somewhere, also many thanks to Amazon for selling this book at an affordable price. Happy Christmas and God Bless.

I enjoy from end to end
Ravens - one of the most touchy Photography books I have ever seen. I enjoy from end to end, beautiful photographs, great graphic design, very nice printed. This is a book which I can truly recommend to every Black&White Photography enthusiast.

An emblematic piece of art is finally in my library.
What is Vincent van Gogh's "Corn field with Ravens" for Painting, is Masahisa Fukase's "Solitude of Ravens" for Photography. A great artwork !(...that changed the way of thinking and making photographs).

A haunting nightmarish vision of the world
Stunning images, there is a reason why this is considered the greatest photo-book of all time. This is not disneyland however, the photos depict a nightmarish world of isolation and despair, with some images coming across as something out of Dante's inferno, David Lynch's Eraserhead also came to mind while looking at them. The new edition from Mack is a little disappointing, I would have much preferred matte prints of the photos as opposed to the glossy print, and I also would have preferred a black background to the photos instead of the white, it just seems it would have fit a lot better with the tone of the book. However, it is great to finally get my hands on this mythic book, which is so expensive when it goes out of print. This edition was not cheap either, and I feel Mack have exploited the price somewhat because of its status in the photobook world. The photographer Fukase lead a tragic and lonely life, and much of that emotion is conveyed through the images in Ravens. It really does feel like owning a beautiful and sad piece of art. He died in 2012 after spending 20 years in a coma after falling down a staircase. May he rest in peace.

Not for me.
Rambling and not well written. Style relies on lists of adjectives in disjointed overly long sentences.

Striking photographer
The book is well made, good layout included and the photograph collection is impressive. A sad end for the photographer's life of course. Ravens is a highly recommended collection of photographs.

Shocking or provocative images are pretty common in photography world
Shocking or provocative images are pretty common in photography world. If you are interested in photography, you get to used to them. But 'Ravens' is something else. The images of 'Raven' gave me a shudder. If you feel lonely or depressed, do not open this book. You have to stare into your black hole, and would be crushed.
