Wow. I knew that these knives would be an improvement over my mismatched, worn out, dull knives but, I had no idea just how much of an improvement. From the moment you set eyes on the box to the moment you pull the block out - you get the feeling these are going to be special. The block is so sleek with rounded edge design and compact enough to fit everything in but, not overly large to be a counter space-hog. The knives are all packaged and wrapped individually, as you would expect, and opening each one was more fun than the last! This is a complete set and includes my new favorite knife that I had been looking for - the nakiri which made me very happy to see. There is really only a few that I won’t use on a regular basis as a non-meat eater, the steak knives and boning knife will sit lonely!Upon pulling my first knife out of its wrap, aside from the initial wow factor of the blade, was that handle. It is so nicely shaped and that little curve where your pinky finger will rest is just perfect for me. The circumference and weight are also quite perfect - it is a well balanced feel in the hand and during use - making my daily work such a more pleasant experience. On top of that, is the very sharp blades that perform beautifully through every task I have put them through yet - chopping carrots, getting through a hard squash and making quick work of removing the skin, to simple herb mincing - they do it all with ease.While there are many factors that experts will look for in a knife set, I am never going to be a Michelin star chef so, for me and honestly, for most of us!, this set is a fantastic option. I look forward to using these for many years to come.

These are fabulous knives. Well-made, flawless, super sharp, heavier weight and easy to hold in your hand. I cook almost daily and the difference between bad knives and good ones is like night and day. I've had several sets of high-quality knives in my lifetime, and I can say these are among my favorites. What I particularly like is the design of the knives near the handles - it's one smooth piece, which means these are easy to clean (by hand, no dishwasher). While other knives tend to have a noted handle groove where food or rust can get, these are designed so that is not a problem. The handles on these knives are heavier weight, making cutting a breeze. These are very sharp and passed what I call the "soft tomato" test: these knives sliced through a soft tomato evenly and smoothly, like a hot spoon in ice cream. Very nice! I've already used every knife in the set, and all are equally outstanding. At first I thought there may be too may larger size knives, but they work so well that they get used as much as the smaller knives. I've used these on bread, veggies, fruits, meats .. and each knife, each time, has been slicing heaven. I used one of the larger knives on thick carrots and cutting was fast and easy. The blades are very sharp, smooth with even blades without design or quality issue. I highly recommend this set. Outstanding quality. Solid 5+ stars for these!

There is a staggering number of choices for knife sets like this. I’ve wanted to buy a new set many different times but I always got bogged down trying to figure out what brand of knife I wanted. My experience in tools has taught me that the most expensive tool is not always better than something less expensive. Ultimately, I decided to order this set based on these reasons: 1. I really like the look of the set. The black block fits perfectly in out kitchen. 2. The brand name stainless steel these knives are made from gave me some confidence in their quality. 3. I LOVE the Santokou and Nakiri style knives. 4. Any set I bought had to have a good set of scissors.Every knife is razor sharp out of the box. I mean like slice a piece of paper on the Ginsu commercial on TV sharp. Only the bread knife, utility knife and steak knives are serrated. Everything else has a smooth edge on it. I generally don’t prefer a serrated edge because they are much more trouble to sharpen. All the knives are full Tang and feel heavy, substantial and very smooth. I really could not be more happy with this set. If you have trouble deciding like I did, here is your sign. Pick this one. I bet you will be as happy with it as I am.

I have had several knife sets over the years and they ranged form the ridiculously over-priced ones you register for when you get married (Name brand) to the EX novelty stand that resembled a crime scene of a stabbed person as the base holder! I've also had replacement knives from various companies that did not come with a block stand for storages--but this set is by far the best one I have every owned! Why don't most makers put a row of steak knives in the block stand to make it easy to store and find daily use knives? Convenient and stocked with a wide variety of knives that are a good weight and are very sharp. Nothing I have owned in the past hold a candle to this set because it looks GREAT on my counter and has every knife you could need within arms reach. This will be my go to gift for wedding gifts going forward because every house needs an amazing set of kitchen knives in a useful holder that saves counter space and looks fantastically expensive! Excellent product!
