Bought as as a gift for a friend. She devoured it in one sitting and has ear-marked numerous pages for her next visit to the city.

If you’re going to New York you must buy this book! It is one of the best travel books I have ever read. I will definitely buy her other books. I hope she writes more.

I'm originally from NY city so I was so excited to see a modern travel guide to see what I have missed out these last years. I love how the book goes over many places to visit and what they offer, though it does seem to lack what I hoped it included.. some history of the city or the places it tells you to visit. Each page does have a lot of lovely art with a map showing locations and businesses, as well as the little icons for the places themselves. Honestly, I think this book would have been better as an App that can get updates/changes if any of the places change anything or go out of business. I love it but I feel it can get dated easily.

This book is a perfect gift (to self or others!) for anyone who likes and wants to discover New York (because there's always more to discover in NY!).I love how the book is sectioned into 4 parts and let's you explore by type of food, by neighborhood, by interest or by season, that's a clever and original way to curate content for the city, especially considering how much content you can find online nowadays in just a few clicks.Instead, this book focuses on providing delightful hand drawn illustrations, beautifully laid out pages with clear typography, and well organized sections for an overall eye-pleasing and relaxing experience as you browse the pages! The hard cover is embossed and makes for a perfect coffee table book or a colorful addition to your bookshelf.I absolutely recommend this book, it's charming and interesting! Have fun reading and discovering the places illustrated by this book in real-life, too!

This book is produced by an artist, not a travel writer, and likely published by a vanity press. But that is its charm. Don't expect the details you'd find in a typical travel guide, like when is the best time to catch the ferry to Liberty Island.For me, it's more like strolling through the city with a friend, who shares their opinions of each restaurant, coffee shop, gallery or boutique we pass. There is very little on each locale other than the physical address and a brief comment with no links to websites, no open hours, and no "nearest subway stop." It is that rare thing: a book that wants to be a book. One that entices the reader to navigate the city and figure out the details in the process. And the volume itself is quite attractive, with small illustrations throughout, many of which are simply inventive icons. There are no photographs and the maps are really images that the mind would retain rather than what a cartographer would see.While the book is meant to help the traveler --- or resident New Yorker -- decide which neighborhoods to visit, it can also serve as a glimpse into the variety that NYC has to offer. If there is any omission I would say it is light on the Bronx and Staten Island, with concentration on the other boroughs being its bias. Perhaps as the artist, Cierra Block, ventures beyond her comfort zone she will treat us to her thoughts on those neglected boroughs. In the meantime, we should thank her for sharing her personal Big Apple with the rest of us.

This is a small size but high quality hardcover book. It is delightfully illustrated and fun to look through. It is whimsical in nature rather than being a comprehensive travel guide, although it does give a brief description & address of each place mentioned. It would make a great gift for someone traveling to NY or for anyone that's interested in NY.I always like to look through books like this (for my own city) to see if they have similar picks to mine and just to see if there's something new for me to discover. But it wouldn't serve as an all encompassing travel guide for someone new to the city ... but rather as a charming addition to other reading material. ~ Fun stocking stuffer or gift for Christmas!

I bought this as a gift for someone. When it turned up, it was even more beautiful than it looked online. A really lovely book, which is practical as well as gorgeous. Highly recommend

Es una monada de libro, tiene unas ilustraciones ideales. De un vistazo tienes por tipo de comida (panaderías, pizza, brunch ..) y también por barrio los sitios imprescindibles de NY. Visual y de muy fácil consulta. Es de las mejores y más originales guías que he visto. Y para los niños muy divertido. La recomiendo
