I wanted something to keep the water in a bird bath moving to keep mosquito larvae at bay. This was cheap enough to try and honestly I didn't expect much, but as I said - I am impressed! Last year I installed the arms to keep the pump more centered but they became so loose they often fell off the pump. This year I didn't put them on and it works fine. I had put it out during a brief warm trend early this Spring and forgot about it when the weather turned cold again. Although the water froze one night, the pump started right up after I thawed it out. I never expected that to happen! The height of the spray depends on the amount of sun it is getting. In full sun there is a decent spray, but that varies as the clouds roll in depending on their density. At night and before sun rise, the pump is off. While others may want something different, that kind of operation is fine for my purposes. This year I am using a different (finer) mesh material for the filter and it seems to be working well, but it does need more frequent cleaning. I don't know that MUST be done but the supplied mesh just impressed me as being too open for someone that is not all that disciplined at keeping the pump cleaned - like I am. All in all, it was money well spent. If you buy one, some periodic cleaning will go a long way to keeping this working. A good spraying with the garden hose is generally enough and cleaning the filter is a must. At the end of last year I gave it a thorough cleaning and it started after letting it sit in the sun for a while. Should the need occur, I will definitely buy another one. Edit - 8/10/25 Well doesn't that figure! I write a review praising this product after having it for over a year and then it starts acting up. One day it worked well; the next day it still worked but barely. Cleaning it didn't help so I bought another one. But for the money, I still think it is a good buy. I just hope the new one does as well.

Over 2 years I have purchased 5 of these solar water fountains. I love them and they have been working great. 2 of these solar finally stopped working but they are 2 years old. I had 2 flower pots and put real flowers around the rim of flower pot and then put another pot in the middle of the larger pot, fill it with water and have a fountain in each. In May I added another identical pot to make 3 (always decorate in odd numbers). That fountain is no longer working! Ugh! I bought 2 more they are good so far. It makes me sad that my 3rd fountain purchase doesn’t work and it’s only 2 months old and out of the 30 day return policy. Is there anyway I can get a replacement? I had bought an extra but did not plan on using it so quickly. Ty I am impressed, they reached out to me and refunded the cost of one fountain. I have already ordered an other to complete my trio of flowers and fountains.

The fountain works just fine. When the sun shines brightly, the spray is quite high. The only complaint I have is that the plastic tubes included to keep the fountain centered in the birdbath don’t work well. They slide into a groove on the body of the fountain, and it does allow the tubes to bend just a little. This sometimes results in one tube getting hooked over the rim of the birdbath. Still, I’m enjoying the fountain. The birds have just started checking it out.

As other reviews have pointed out, the fountain only works if the sun is out. It doesn’t have a battery to store solar energy. Luckily, I live in a place where we get a lot of sun. I was a little worried because my brother told me I could burn out the motor If the water went dry. That’s happened lots of times with no problems. In fact, I can hear the motor quietly running even when there’s no water in the birdbath. But the fountain starts immediately as soon as I put water in. The fountain comes with different nozzles so that you can adjust the type of water flow. When you set it up, you have to attach four small tubes. These not only feed water into the fountain, but they keep the fountain centered. I’ve had the fountain two months and it works beautifully as long as the sun is out and I remembered to fill up the basin. The fountain is not only pretty, but it aerates the water to help keep it clean and free of green goop. For the price, I’m definitely happy.

It's ok. It works but only in very bright sunlight, clouds shut it down. When it is spraying it sprays everywhere outside of the water area no matter what nozzle I use. The first day I had to go fill it 3 times in just a couple hours--not really worth setting up when you have to constantly monitor it. When the water level gets low it makes an extremely loud grinding sound you can hear from inside your house--it's that loud. There is no on/off switch either so you need to plant on being home to monitor it if you want it to run at all without drying up and annoying all your neighbors with that awful noise. For the price it's fine, but would not purchase again.

This fountain works better than other ones I’ve purchased. I believe the glass top helps the solar panels produce more power. It even works a bit in partial shade. The straight up spout seems to work best with my small bird bath. I use a few rocks to surround it to keep it in the middle. I had a problem with algae in the water, so I had to clean it frequently. I recently purchased a copper bird bath disc to put in the water to help with that problem. We’ll see if it works. Note: This is the 3rd time I’ve purchased this item. They didn’t seem to last but about a year before they stopped working. It may just be the harsh Louisiana summer sun or the excess algae. I still recommend this product because the price is low enough to allow replacement.
