You should definitely read this book and recommend it as I did to you and I hope you like it too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review: Great book - My 9 year old daughter LOVES this series. And i’ll admit that while flipping through it I got sucked in! Great story and characters perfect for older kids.

Great Book!
This novel is an amazing debut by a new artistic team led by Mark Siegel (editor and chief of 1st Second publishing). This book contains a complex and interesting storyline reminiscent of Avatar the Last Airbender and the always excellent Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi. The story covers a lot of ground in its roughly 250 pages introducing us to a Sand Dancer (think bender like in Avatar) a professional athlete, and a slum kid trying to survive. Through a sequence of events, these three are thrown together and placed in charge of saving the world by managing to light a sacred beacon. The book introduces a lot of concepts and moves at a brisk pace which should keep audiences engaged. The artwork is delicate and beautiful conveying the story in delicate detail while fleshing out the world. A great read, I look forward to the sequel.

loved it
It was hard to get into while reading it at first but once you start reading it’s such a phenomenal book. If you love fantasy read it!! It also was kind of similar to the Avatar, as both characters have to save different elements or worlds as they call it

Beautiful art, engaging story
This book is shades of the "The Fifth Element" for a younger audience (no sex, abstract violence). There's a gorgeous world that we learn about mostly from context (i.e. no big infodumps), a plot that's maybe a little thin/predictable but sets things in motion for a nice epic, and an interesting cast of characters. I can definitely recommend it for its target audience, and I look forward to reading the next volume.

Kid likes it
My reluctant reader is reading! I have a picky reader. This book has them reading! Described by my reluctant reader as multiple stories in one using elements. I’m thrilled.
