VIDBOX® GCK2 Capture and Live Stream

It was very clear and straight forward to setup and just simply works. The UI is very easy to understand and is very user friendly even for a novice.

While there are many different capture cards on the market to choose from, this one does a great job meeting the ease of use and quality standards of other cards, but falls a little short from delivering on a better value proposition.From an initial unboxing and setup experience, this card isn't much different to most other cards. It comes with a USB-C to USB Type-A cable, an HDMI cable, and a brief setup guide. The card also has the same HDMI-In, HDMI-Out, and Audio In/Out ports like other devices. Due to these similarities, I was able to disconnect my old card and set up this one in less than a couple minutes.For those new to capture cards, you might still have to disable HDCP on your console for the capture card to work, otherwise you may get a black screen until you do so.For my tests, I did the recording capture and streaming using OBS software. I used OBS as it has a great track record of detecting most capture cards out of the box without needing additional software or drivers to set it up. In OBS, for me, it's as easy as going to your sources, adding a video capture device, and selecting the VIDBOX from the drop down menu. It's that easy. The on-screen capture looked great and there was no noticeable input lag or visual issues. It just worked. The company does also have their own software you can use for bonus features if you choose, but it doesn’t offer enough for me to choose it over OBS.I can also confirm that the 4K passthrough works perfectly, though you are still limited to a max 1080p60FPS capture resolution.I was able to record and stream without any issues and there were no visual artifacts in the playback. I also never had any issues with the audio going out of sync, which is an issue I have had with other capture cards in the past.Overall, this capture card delivers on everything it promises, however, I believe the cost is at the wrong placement. There are more reputable branded cards with the exact same specs that are slightly lower in cost at some markets. While I believe this card is great and could be an excellent alternative to those larger brands, I think the only way this card will get more recognition is if it can find a way to undercut the competition. In the end, it has great video and audio quality, the setup is painless and simple, and it works perfectly. I would recommend it, but only as a secondary option.

My son has recently been into streaming things. He has some knowledge of computers and software, (especially compared to me who has trouble setting up a stupid printer!) Like he has fimed/mixed/uploaded some music videos for someone's demo and it does get some viewers, but he is still sort of a novice compared to people who do this kind of thing all the time. He wanted a screen capture for a long time, but I wasn't sure what to get or if he would even really use it. But since his interest has grown, not waned, I thought he would like this. He had no trouble with it right out of the box. I can't say if it has all the bells and whistles, but it is effective enough for his level and was simple for him to use and understand.

My son only recently became interested in streaming so this has been our first experience with a capture card. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have been pleasantly surprised at the simplicity of it all. My son was able to connect the capture card to his devices and begin navigating the software within minutes. The recordings are good quality. I'd recommend this to others who are new to streaming/capture cards and wanting to learn without difficult setup or software.

On a whim I grabbed this for adding an additional input for my streaming setup. The input, capture and passthrough work very well. Solid capture of 1080p/60 and 4k60 were tested. The captured image was clear with good saturation and the impact on the computer was minimal (<8% on a Ryzen 5900x). The passthrough works very well. The metal case is a nice touch as are the rubber feet for keeping it planted on a desktop. The included HDMI cable seems nice as well as does the USBC cable for powering the device. I found the power LED to be bright without being annoying as some LEDs can be. I did not get a chance to test console party chat, but I have to believe it works well. At this price however the lack of 2.5k and or higher frame rate 1080p seems to place this outside of a good value. If you're looking for streaming XBox or Playstation this might be a good option for you. If you're looking to stream from a PC, there may be better options out there depending on your setup and gaming preferences.
