A Fun, Quirky Mashup
If you're a fan of both G.I. Joe and Transformers, this New Alliances expansion for the G.I. Joe Deck-Building Game is a pretty fun mix of strategy, nostalgia, and a bit of chaos. First off, the concept is wild—bringing in characters from both universes (and even My Little Pony, oddly enough) creates some really interesting combos and strategies. It’s like someone decided to throw all your childhood action figures into one big game, and while that sounds like it could be a mess, it actually works. The cards look great—each one is well-designed, and the artwork does a solid job of making you feel like you’re controlling your favorite characters. The game is fairly easy to pick up but still gives you enough to think about, so you’re constantly trying to figure out how to best use the cards and special abilities. Playing as Optimus Prime and Snake Eyes, each with their own unique powers, keeps things fresh and keeps you on your toes. A couple of things to note: you’ll need the base game to play this expansion, so don’t jump in thinking it’s a standalone product. And while the inclusion of My Little Pony might seem weird at first, it adds a fun, unexpected twist to the mix—though it does leave you wondering how that crossover even happened. (But hey, I'm not complaining.) Overall, if you enjoy deck-building games and love a good crossover, this one hits the right notes. It’s not going to be for everyone, but if you’re into G.I. Joe, Transformers, and some lighthearted strategy, it’s definitely worth giving it a try.

Awesome.
I've already talked up this company in the main game enough. But i really am digging these pink dice. I haven't gotten to try this expansion yet. But the cards looks cool. The dice are actually for a new type of roll. However im using em all for the core game right now and it feels like a retro hand throw. Army green and Barbie pink.

Horrific Deckbuilding Experience
Five games in and I lost them all, very badly. There are serious SERIOUS issues with this game, and I've played dozens of deckbuilders. This one is among the worst. Very poorly designed with respect to difficulty. It's the hardest, and most unreasonable, deckbuilder in existence, bar none. No difficulty adjustments to make the game easier are offered, aside from the fact that you could include less story missions per Act, but why would you want a shortened narrative experience? Crazy. Between the end of turn, start of turn, and end of round effects on everything, it's all against you. Couple that with very random dice and you have a recipe for sheer disaster. Now don't get me wrong...I normally love dice in my games, but in this one, they are a very bad addition because of the overall difficulty of the game. Things tend to spiral totally out of control as you progress through the acts of the mission, and incorporating dice just makes an already ridiculous hard game that much more ridiculously hard. I don't recommend this one, folks. Not by a long shot. The poorly written rulebook is just the tip of the iceberg. Inappropriately playtested for sure.
