A Tale of a Rakes' Love Thwarted...ROWR!
Jilted four years earlier by his betrothed (Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne)...Marcus Ashford, Earl of Westfield & Agent to the Crown is determined to win her again to "get over" her....(now that she is a Widow - -3 years of mourning completed). So, in order to be near her, he manipulates the Agency he works for, to be placed on her "case" of solving the murder of her husband (also an Agent to the Crown) and protecting Elizabeth from harm as she carries physical evidence (in the form of her deceased Husbands "Journal") that could possibly lead to solving his murder. But all is not as it appears. Mystery, subterfuge and intrigue abound.A story of false assumptions and misunderstandings.....of two strong willed characters, too proud, arrogant and stubborn to reveal their pain to each other. Each blames the other for their broken engagement. Marcus wants an explanation for Elizabeth's sudden, rash elopement with Lord Nigel Hawthorne four years earlier. Elizabeth simply wants Marcus to leave her alone.Even though they were once betrothed to marry, they are now nothing more than strangers bound by the same intense attraction they shared long ago......an attraction that defies all reason. Marcus' need for Elizabeth far outweighs his instinct for self preservation. He wants her and despises himself for this "need" of her. He wants nothing more than to rid himself from the endless craving of wanting her and he feels if he can only bed her....once.....he will forget her and be cured of this deep, intense need he feels for her. He would give his entire fortune to be rid of the desire and longing he has for her.Aaaaaah....absolutely delectable! This story wasn't as fast paced at other S. Day plots along this same genre (Historical Romance). But I gotta say I enjoyed this story enough to not want to put it down. The characters aren't as strong as they could've been...but still...it was a good story and I enjoyed it immensely. I loved Marcus! I loved his arrogant Alpha Male self....he was just so dang sexy!!! Major rowr factor. I loved that he persevered in his determination to "rid" himself of Elizabeth...thinking all he needed was to bed her and he could go back to his life. HAH! Delicious and delightful!!Kudo's Ms. Day!

"Marcus Hot Hot"
Marcus Ashford, is the seventh Earl of Westfield. In addition to his title and wealth. Marcus is an agent for the Crown. In the agency, he suspects there is an internal perfidy who's leaking information. The spy is one step ahead of his investigation. Marcus was assigned by his superior to protect Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne. Elizabeth was married a year when her husband, agent Viscount Nigel Hawthorne, was murdered. Three-years after his murder, Elizabeth received a package addressed to her husband, written in his handwriting. Inside the package was a coded journal.Marcus and Lady Elizabeth were betrothed four-years ago with her father's blessing. They had a misunderstanding. Elizabeth's brother William was an agent for the Crown and Nigel was his partner. Viscount Nigel Hawthorne asked Lady Elizabeth to married him. They decided to elope. Nigel married Elizabeth to get closer to her brother William who's investigating Christopher St. John for piracy.I didn't like Lady Elizabeth at the beginning of the book, because she was obstinate. There were times when I felt sorry for Marcus. Even though, Marcus had an exceptional sexual drive. He could have anyone from the ton and he had two mistresses. It was Lady Elizabeth he wanted and wished to marry. Lady Elizabeth jilted Marcus and married Nigel whom she didn't love. Nigel was around and convenient. Lady Elizabeth didn't explain why she married Nigel until after they were intimately involved. She didn't know that Marcus was an agent for the Crown."Ask For It" is a suspense thriller in addition to being an erotic love story. There is a traitor in the agency who desperately wants the journal that Lady Elizabeth has in her possession. Marcus trusts several agents, but at the present time, he trusts no one with Elizabeth's life. Marcus took it upon himself to safeguard Elizabeth."Ask For It by Sylvia Day" maybe disturbing for some adults because it contains numerous explicit sex scenes. Sylvia Day did a superb job weaving in the suspense drama and the sex scenes weren't done in a vulgar way.I recommend!

Very enjoyable
Marcus and Elizabeth were to be married but through a misunderstanding she ran off and married someone else. Now she is back and widowed. Marcus plans to make her pay for leaving him. He only plans on taking her to sate his needs. They both try to deny how they feel about each other through all their steamy encounters. In addition, someone is after a book she is in possession of regarding her late husbands murder and he insists she is safest with him until the villain's are dealt with. I did have an idea who the villain was early in the book. This one had the usual steaminess and love story with a nice epilogue to tie it all up. I stayed up late to finish. This was an enjoyable Sylvia Day read. I enjoy all her historical books.

cringe making my awful - avoid
So bad it's funny! On dear I am clearly going to contradict 95% of the reviews but this really is breathtakingly awful rubbish. I mean I did not expect Georgette Heyer, but maybe perhaps Barbara Cartland for 21st century. This makes Barbara look like Jane Austen. It claims to be Georgian i.e. the early 1800s but really did Regency bucks call each"man " and swear using the F---word? Oh and for the record the modern purple dye was not invented until 1856 so the heroine could not have worn one. But it is the sex scenes which are the best or should I say worst part of the book? They are just hysterically awful. I shouldnt scoff as i magine it provdes much needed escapism but ladies you can do better than this. I am only half I bought it for 99c on the Kindle Daily Deal and did not waste real money on it. Sorry thumbs down for this.

Stick with it!
I came to this after reading Fifty Shades ,and buying the Crossfire trilogy Wanted something in the genre but completely different, before moving on to 'Crossfire' Was not sure I had made the right decision as found this difficult to get into at the start Was never tempted to give up on it,but it did not 'grab me' All I can say is persevere! You will not regret it! The sex makes Shades look tame at times, and while I did not fall in love with the characters in the same way that I did with Christian and Ana,or Jack and Grace in the Redhead trilogy, still grew to care what happened to them

Took a bit of time to grasp the old world language and had to look up some words. This book is beautifully written and had me gripped from start to finish x
