Fretless Bass: A Hands-On Guide Including Fundamentals, Techniques, Grooves and Solos

Four string bassists look elsewhere!
Disappointed. Hal Leonard usually produce good books - they dropped the ball on this one. Firstly it is very basic, with just over thirty pages of actual instruction it focuses mainly on a collection of scale exercises. You can find these in any bass tutor, you don't need a 'fretless' tutor to repeat them. Secondly, absolutely no mention is made of the fact that most of the exercises are for five string bass, so tough luck to the majority of bassists with a four string. Finally much is made of the fact that you get a code to access all the audio online with tools for slowing down and speeding up tempo. My book came with a CD, so no code and therefore no tools. Good job I still have a CD player on my computer

Fretless Bass
Somewhat disappointing that the book is really just musical examples with very little discussion and nearly all the examples are arranged for 5 string bass.
