In How To Be Perfectly Unhappy , Inman explores the surprising benefits of forgetting about “happiness,” and embracing instead the meaningful activities that keep us busy and interested and fascinated. Review: A treasure - I received this as a gift and have also bought another copy for a friend. I've insisted people borrow it after a hard time. It's amazing. Review: Perfectly relatable - I’m a big fan of The Oatmeal, and have been for a long time, but this book is special. While there’s plenty of the glorious comedy gold we’ve all come to expect from The Oatmeal, this book feels deeply personal — we all struggle with being happy, and this book reminds us it’s ok to feel however we feel. With a great big helping of illustrated goodness, of course. When I re-read this book, each time it feels true.

Satisfaction does not equal happiness
This book is a nice reminder that satisfaction and happiness are not the same thing, and you can be satisfied while not necessarily feeling happy. That's ok. The art is fun. I wish it were a tad longer but it doesn't have filler so that's nice.

Awesome book
This book hits home in many ways. I disagree with a few of these statements but am entertained hearing Matthew Inman’s point of view on these subjects.

Too short?
I really enjoyed this book but it seems to be far too short for the price. I didn’t even look at the number of pages when I bought it because I have bought his other box and there was more content. It is, though, a book with a very interesting message and it is an enjoyable read.

A perfect gift for that unhappy person in your life
I always loved following Oatmeal on the Internet, and this is the first book of their comics I bought. I bought it for content, but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of cover and print as well. If you have that person in your life who never admits they're happy, this is a wonderful gift. As always, Oatmeal is simple and hits you right in the heart. This little comic is a great, deep insight into what happiness really is, and why it's ok not to be happy in the way society proclaims the only right way to be content.

soothing and validating
I found this to validate me. I always figured something was wrong with me because I do not experience “happy” the way others tell me I should. In fact, most people find something wrong with how I feel despite it having no bearing on their lives. This book makes me feel…like me. Like my experience IS shared and that soothes me.

Cute book and surprisingly philosophical
I like seemingly simple books with an underlying message, and this one doesn't disappoint. Western society has put such pressure on people to "be happy" that we forget happiness is a fleeting feeling, not something to feel *all the time.* This books puts things into perspective, and I love the message and drawings. If you like something you can read in 15 minutes and come back to once in a while to remind you that being content is enough, then get this.

Ironic
A children book for adults, it's difficult to understand for children but with the help of an adult it can be explained! The message is nice, even if you don't feel happy you probably are doing your best and You are busy interested and concentrared on your goals! Nice message. Very Small size.
