Keeps the sun off
This is my second one, first one lasted ten years before the plastic disintegrated. Will work at trolling speed. Get a dark color for better shade the white one lets a lot of light through and when hot you will notice the difference

This umbrella is perfect!
I have gone though 4 umbrellas so far and this is the only one that is Marine suitable, there are no non-stainless metal parts, except the tubes which are aluminum. All the previous umbrellas had metal parts that rusted and made a mess of our boat. Another great feature is, you don't need a rod holder, it comes with a soft/firm bottom boot that you place on the deck of the boat and support it by the 4 tethers. Our boat has the rod holder but we rented a pontoon that did not and it worked perfectly. A real sun saver here in the Florida heat!

Taylor Made stands by their product!
Well made, easy to set up and take down. Adjustable to provide maximum shade. Excellent support from customer service when it was damaged in a sudden squall with very high winds. Highly recommend both the product and the company,

First use broke in first hour
This product fit my needs. I bought and then put it on my boat. Light winds 5-8 mph and the pole snapped. It seems out of return time frame and the pole broke. It would be nice to get bottom pole replaced. Unhappy on how thin and cheap the actual pole. If using on the boat then forget it. A light wind will snap the pole. The umbrella is of decent material and the mechanics of opening is good, But the the pole strength needs a huge improvement if you don't want the pole to bend or break when stabilizing pole. Things are are so cheap. It would be nice if company could replace the pole or in the future make the actual pole sturdy to handle light winds. Well I am updating this review to a four star because I did contact the company and explained and sent photo of the defective pole and they sent me a new one. But I think it would be good business to change the pool to a higher quality and more durable material. Less issues, less returns, better reviews and overall better product. Which is what we are all looking for. I would pay at least an extra $20 to have a better lower pole that could take a light breeze. I will see how the replacement works. I may have to reinforce it somehow my self or not put up without wind. We will see

shipped product had been returned and had a broken part
The shipping box had previously been opened and crudely repackaged. Definitely a "reship". One of the shafts on the center yoke to which the ribs attach was broken. The ribs must be placed properly to snap them in place or you can break the connecting shaft. I suspect the initial purchaser broke the shaft and sent the umbrella back. Without close examination, the item was accepted, placed back in stock and than shipped to me. I had the part from a prior umbrella and not wanting to ship it back as we are on vacation at the beach, spent several hours replacing the broken part. It now works, but wanted you to be aware.

Poor quality
If you're looking for a good quality product for your boat, stay away from these. Received a beat up box re taped, can only assume it was a return. Opened it up and it was half assembled, had to disassemble to fix a latching issue which was not easy with the cheap plastic parts. Mine will end up in the trash and move on to better quality.

GREAT Quality!
Works great as sun shade for our old 1975 tri-haul boat. Love that is adjustable and the green color is fabulous.

Not for use underway. Great product for shade at anchor.
This is easy to put up, stable, provides a nice amount of shade, quick to put away and store. The provided storage sleeve does a great job of packing the umbrella away when you're not using it. Other reviewers have complained that this umbrella is less solidly built than previous umbrellas, but I don't have experience to give an opinion on that. It seems solidly built but it is definitely not made for use while underway. We put it up in a light breeze, perhaps five knots, and it was plenty stable. It would be silly to try to use this umbrella while underway. At the moment I don't want to install a permanent Bimini top on my boat so this is a great alternative when you need shade at anchor.

So far so good! Great product Will not replace a real Bimini top but when anchor at the beach it provide shade in the boat You can't be underway with this umbrella open!

So many letdowns in online shopping. Not this time. Pretty sturdy. Well made and carry case fits snug. Adjustable and larger than I felt it would be. It says don’t use in motion, but I would troll (fish) all day with this up and feel comfortable.

It served the purpose well.

It’s. Ok for money. Strictly for anchored shade. Would have returned but got busy and missed return window. Only test fit never really used
