My wife had asked me to install a railing for our attic to make it safer for everyone (and up to code). I wanted to pick something that was metal and easy to assemble. The handrail arrived quickly, in good shape, and the directions were easy to follow. Other reviewers gave good points on attaching the end caps first, doing so afterwards would have made it challenging especially in my situation where the bottom wouldn't have fit afterwards. Either way, it feels durable, not like anyone is going to smash it with a baseball bat. The measurements listed were accurate and it fit my needs perfectly. I would trust getting this again in other sizes if need be.

These are nice and are pretty easy to install. I installed 2 of them - of course the second one took about 1/4 the time to install than the first one did. ;-) The ones i ordered were 6.5 feet long. I was a bit surprised that the rail came in 2 pieces but I'm not sure why. The connection is very sturdy. The handrails as mounted - also just rock solid. The rails themselves are somewhat "slick" compared to wood rails, but i think that's just the nature of the beast. The metal rails get chilly - not a problem for me but the wife complained. Fair warning. ;-)

I am a senior, and I installed my railing by myself. It went pretty easily, but the end caps were so difficult to put on. I ended up getting a bruise on my wrist, and I had to slightly bend the tabs in so that they would go into the pipe railing. Besides that, I am extremely happy, looks beautiful. I ordered a 3 foot to go down the other part of the stairs highly recommend, very good quality, looks excellent

First, Amazon was great about this issue but the item comes directly from Rothley so there’s only so much they can do. I will explain and upload video. The 6.6 foot unit comes with two kinds of brackets 5 to hold the pipe railing to the wall. Type B is double wide because it holds the two pieces of pipe together in the middle. Type A is narrower, they go near the top and bottom. You slide the pipe into the brackets. Each bracket has a screw that you tighten so it grips the pipe. A small Allan wrench is provided to tighten the screws. In the first unit, the type B bracket was fine. The Allan wrench fit the screws and the screws tighten properly. Both type A brackets were defective, however. They were smaller, so the Allan wrench doesn’t fit in them, but I happened to have a small one that worked. The big problem, though ,was that the brackets weren’t drilled correctly. The outside of the bracket is metal, while the inside is a plastic layer that goes around the pipe. On the type A bracket, the plastic wasn’t drilled at all. No hole. So the screws couldn’t tighten and grip the pipe. The Type B bracket was drilled all the way through and was fine; the Type A brackets were not. So I contacted Amazon and they sent out a replacement that arrived faster than promised. The second unit has almost exactly the same problem. One Type A bracket has the wrong screw, while the other has the right screw. So that’s a hair better. Neither one has been drilled through. So now I have to box up and return two defective units via the UPS store. Amazon can’t send me a second replacement and I have to return them for a refund. That’s fair but I believe I will try another brand for my next replacement.

I absolutely love the upscale look at this hardware and it was so easy to install!
