Quality build, insanely sturdy
I have like many, dreamt of owning a truly sturdy tripod.. Have owned several, from various manufacturers, both aluminium and carbon fibre, but none have ever been very sturdy. I was lucky enough to give a friend's Gitzo a try a d I was hooked.. Seriously these things are built like a tank... Yes most carbon fibre tripods are far lighter than their aluminium equivalents, but no matter how much you spend on them, they flex... When thos thing arrived, I was surprised and just how thick the leg section are... the bottom sections are as thick as the top ones on my last tripod... Much beefier than I initially expected... The ball head, is huge and very well made.A lot of people will say a tripod, is not necessary these days.. Lenses and cameras are getting much lighter, stabilisation is improving every day, so most just shoot handheld.. However, when tracking miles, then trying to shoot hard held, even with my Sony a1 and 100-600mm lens, it's just too much. Slap it o to this incredible tripod though and I can sit there all day, waiting for the shot(s)... Big plus is how light this tripod and ball head combo are.. compared to carrying the lens/camera combo, it's nothing... add this to my folding tripod seat and lens hide... I cannot wait to get out there, set this up and wait and wait.If you have the funds and are really getting into Wildlife photography and looking fir a tripod that can handle it all and will last you many, many years, do yourself a favour, skip buying any of the cheaper tripods and get a Gitzo...Not cheap, but we'll worth every penny. Highly recommended
