On our Mt Rushmore of Christmas Shows!
This became an instant classic in our household! This show has earned a spot on our Mount Rushmore of Christmas shows alongside Rudolph and Frosty. The holiday-themed storyline is hilarious and the songs are catchy and fun. The animation is bright and colorful, making it a delight to watch for both kids and adults. We love how SpongeBob and his friends bring their own unique charm and humor to the holiday season. This show is a must-watch for any SpongeBob fan or anyone looking for a fun and festive holiday special!

Discs only
What’s not to love except no digital code slip. Appears to be a re-wrapped job since the wrap was thinner and cheaper quality than that of a store purchased dvd. Digital code was mainly why I purchased it so I was disappointed on that. I should have read more reviews :/ But the discs are good and kids enjoyed a little SpongeBob holiday fun.

SpongeBob in a way you've never seen him before - stop motion animated!
Before I delve too far into details on the animation let me give an overall description so you know what to expect. This is a 22 minute SpongeBob Xmas special with songs scattered throughout it that has a recurring theme of not being a jerk during the holidays. The word "jerk" is constantly used and there is even a song about not being a jerk, so if you don't like the word "jerk" don't jerk your money out to jerk this movie into your player and let it jerk about on your television. This was made in a form of animation called stop-motion, which is different from the show which is done in 2d animation. The story is about Plankton trying to get the Krabby patty secret formula and Bikini Bottom falling into chaos in the process. SpongeBob's innocent love of the holidays saves the day. Now to get into details...The entire special is done in stop-motion animation. You can compare the style to Rudolph by Rankin Bass and Nightmare Before Christmas by Henry Selick, but it is not claymation like Wallace and Gromit or Gumby, which are claymation (as many other reviewers seem to believe this is). So the reviewer who said this is not all claymation, they are right, but it is most definitely completely animated in stop motion. All the characters were built as puppets to represent the original show, but they will not look exactly the same. SpongeBob and Plankton are made out of foam, Patrick has a wooly fabric, and Squidward is a smooth shiny fabric. My point is everything is very textural. Every character was hand made from scratch and animated one frame at a time, just like in hand drawn animation, but everything is tangible. If you are curious to see any behind the scenes or a preview of the look, Google "SpongeBob Christmas special behind the scenes" and the first thing to pop up should be an ABC youtube video about the making of. If you don't feel like doing that it tells viewers that the special took many months to make. The animator might get around 5 seconds of animation a day and there are 24 frames in a second - and that's working fast! On some other productions an animator might get only 2 seconds a day... just to put things in perspective. SpongeBob is made up of about 50 parts and he has about 100 mouths that were all made by hand.Overall the SpongeBob xmas special is very charming, although you should be forewarned about the constant use of "jerk" as this could bother some people. There are many catchy songs and the animation is wonderfully done. The puppets are beautiful and are a nice interpretation of SpongeBob and gang in three dimensions. It is very colorful and energetic and the kiddies are sure to get a kick out of it.

SpongBob is always a hit!
I order this off of Amazon Prime Instant Video. This SpongeBob mini movie is a bit different, it's more of a claymation and not a cartoon. My boys liked the change from the regular SpongBob cartoon, it kept them interested in it.I wasn't a huge fan of the Squidward's "don't be a jerk" song in this. I try not to use words like that in my house and there goes SpongeBob teaching them. Every time I encounter something like that in a cartoon I explain to my children why we shouldn't use words like that and that it's just a fake cartoon and not real life. I know SpongBob is for 7+ but they really don't need to say some of the stuff they do. I don't like my 7 year old using words like jerk or tubby, both which have been featured on SpongeBob cartoons.Either way with some parental guidance it's a very entertaining little mini movie about SpongBob's Christmas!Thank you for reading my review, I hope you found it helpful.

Had to play around with it.
Worked on only one of our players. I put it on and it showed black so I kept tapping play over and over again and it finally started playing but did not work on our other player. DVD is region 1 and our players play region 1 DVDs so it was something with the DVD. Maybe they forgot to program a play DVD screen on it but I did get it to work. DVD case was cracked and ripped on the back but I don’t really care about that. Over all I love this spongebob and this movie is really enjoyable.
