Labour of love
You can tell that the author loves Walt Disney World history when you read this book. Full of great stories about things were planned at various times but never built for various reasons it's a fascinating read for Disney fans and shows how different the worlds most popular theme parks could have been

Very interesting read by a Disneyphile for the Disneyphile
Very interesting book, kept me reading about all the cancelled projects and wondering 'what if'? Two themes- Disney cancel a lot of things due to budget, and they often bring things back years later in a watered down (cheaper) form. Great book.

Almost Completed Creations
The kindlebook of The Walt Disney World That Never Was; Stories Behind the Amazing Imagineering Dreams That Never Came True by Christopher E Smith and Bob McClain appealed to me as a writer and to help understand the mechanics behind ideas and how some eventually take off andor are transformed into other vistas. Some of the features in this innovative kindlebook; almost coming close to the development of a Roger Rabbit theme park that provided the creative basis for the Who Framed Roger Rabbit film,as per the kindlebook the Roger Rabbit film is based on the mystery novel Who Censored Roger Rabit by Gary K. Wolf, David Copperfield’s Magic Underground that would have been formed into a restaurant and how that indirectly tied into the “Abracadabra Bar that opened in Disney’s Boardwalk in 2016, resorts that were to be constructed such as the Venetian Resort, and more.

Fantastic read -- breezy, but informative
I would recommend this book to anyone - Disney fanatics, newbies and in-betweens. I loved reading about the various shelved projects (rides, resorts, etc.) and even more so about WHY they never came to fruition, with reasons ranging from financial to political. I found myself shrugging off some of the scrapped ideas (no big loss) and downright heartbroken by others ("ugh, that would have been so cool!").I have loaned this book to different family members and friends, with varying levels of interest in history, reading and WDW itself, and they have all enjoyed it.

Great fun, but badly in need in need of photos or drawings
Christopher Smith is a lawyer in Alabama and a huge Disney World fan. He's gathered together a treasure trove of information on all the Disney World rides that were proposed but for one reason or another never actually built. Although I've read some of this information before, it was useful to have it brought together in one place. The main flaw in the book is that it has absolutely no photos, drawings, or other visuals of any kind. Concept art exists for many of these rides and, in fact, Smith spends quite a lot time giving the reader descriptions of the art. But those description are no substitute for actually seeing it. I assume that the book's budget or permission issues with Disney kept the book from having any visuals. The book could also have used a good editor to rein in some of Smith's overly exuberant prose. But, hey, this is a fan's book. It was written by a fan for other fans and on that basis, I very much enjoyed it.

The intricate details are amazing. Only someone with a sincere love of all ...
(Oh, the things we didn't know)I am just a casual Disney fan, but this book made me want to find out more. The author takes you step by step into the projects that were worked onfor years but never came to life. You will also learn Disney history you nevernew. I can only imagine how much research it took. The intricate detailsare amazing. Only someone with a sincere love of all things could have written this book.I look forward to more work from this author. Highly recommended
