Distorted sound
After 8 months I notice the sound quality deteriorating and becoming distorted. At 12months in the sound quality of this is now awful and unbearable. Amazon have said theyβd take it on or replace.

this system tends to act as a centre hub of you living room entertainment systems, but it doesn't do well.
although the sound quality is better than most other sound bars i have listened to, there are a lot of small problems.small things like causing screen randomly blacking out or flicking, or remote control through HDMI ARC would not work as expected(for instance, sometime the unit goes to standby because of <power-saving timeout?> while the tele is still on, and then i would use its remote to turn the sound bar on, but at the same time the remote turns off the tele)so the life with this sound bar was me holding at least 3 remote controllers in my living room acting like a robot trying to work around these small issues, while i was supposed to relax and enjoy some quality content.also the "home" screen of this sound bar is very roughly made, navigating through the menu is sluggish, not responsive, and the graphic interface does not seem to be "HD".overall very poor experience, not something i would expect from a "high-end" sound bar from sony.it would have been a 4 stars if it had just been a simple sound bar, or 5 stars if it had been a simple sound bar supporting apple airplay.returned after 1 week, would not recommend to anyone.

One Star
July 2016 Excellent sound system for Sony XD93 TV range a 5 star ratingNovember 2016 now reduced to 2 stars.Since the above comment, my sound bar is now 5 months old and has been having intermittent issues where the bar will lock up and drop audio. Often, the bar will get stuck on start up, finally it has quit completely as there is no graphic output on the ARC output to my Bravia TV to control it and the wifi module in it has also died. Now with Sony for a warranty repair.January 2017Now reduced to one bar.The soundbar has failed again. It had a replacement motherboard and wifi module and even failed at the repair center again before being returned to me. Sony support then rang me to advise it would be replaced as following three successive repairs it would be treated as needing replacement. Since then I got the unit back for one day where it made a loud pop and whistling sound and stopped working. At this point is was returned to the service centre for replacement and at this point Sony reneged on replacing saying it should stay with the repair centre fpr repair. The moral here is caveat emptor. It appears that Sony support is appalling and the poor quality of this unit beggars belief. I will certainly not buy another Sony product until their support improves and would suggest that anyone buying a Sony Soundbar think carefully and be aware of the terrible support that I have experienced. For the record the unit is linked to the 2016 Sony 55XD9305 4H HDR (through the ARC channel) bought at the same time as the sound bar for which I have had no issues and excellent picture quality.I am now going through the small claims court for a refund given the unsatisfactory support and inability to repair and make the unit reliable.Very poor quality for a Β£1000 sound bar. I notice may other owners on Amazon US are having the same issues. Sony needs to improve its firmware / hardware.

Avoid as the soundbar has issues
I have had this sound bar a year now and have been plagued with issues a few months down the line. The main issue is buzzing/distortion sound bar speakers after watching a BluRay for over an hour. This is not high volume buzzing/distortion as it happens even at volume level 15 of 50. The sound bar has been at two repair shops to try and fix the buzzing speaker and both have failed.I managed to get the 2nd repair attempt a month before my warranty ran out. The repair shop failed to phone me after almost two months - had to chase them. Now Iβm out of warranty and a few week after l get my sound bar back l have another problem were sound output stops during BluRay playback, the subwoofer volume button stops working along the sound field button (l just see a blank on the sound bar display). Now l have to see if Sony will do anything given the recent repair has clearly not worked and made things worse. Sony have been unwilling to exchange the product unless Iβd try two repairs so let's see how they deal with this.UPDATE 08/10/2016: Soundbar displays "Please wait" continuously and does not play sound anymore. Now l need to look for a new sound bar :(
