Gatco 6402 Double Duty Sharpener

Actually, this sharpener worked much better than I expected. The carbide side worked easily and did a great job for the first pass. The ceramic rods do a very nice cleanup of rough edges. I have used the rough/finish all ceramic rods types in the past and find this to be superior to those. I touch up our kitchen and stack knives after each use and am very pleased!

Just like with the MANY other sharpeners out there, this will touch up your knife when dull. However, this also comes with the carbide blades if you REALLY want to sharpen your knife, or if you need to take out some big nicks. Some won't need the carbide ability, and the other hand sharpeners are perfect for you, but I like the option of being able to really put an edge on my knife, and that's why this rating gets teh 5 stars instead of the 4 of the other types. Great, handy little sharpener.

Didn't work for my knife due to the angle of my blade is different than most.

I bought this at the recommendation as a friend. I was impressed at how well my friend's sharpened my knives. I bought this to keep in a traveling kit that I take to competitions. It is really good. I wanted one for the house and decided to get the next model up for the house. The Gatco 6224 a bit better than this one. Both sharpeners are better than anything else I have ever used.

This is an amazing tool. I've tried multiple sharpener's in the past at a cost much greater than this tool. Not only did it sharpen our current knives amazingly well, it also resurrected old knives we received as a wedding present 30 years ago! Easy to use with virtually no way to screw up…would recommend this prodcut to anyone who wants an edge.
