Device is a clone of the feintech. Feintech have the latest firmware which fixes the CEC passthrough. Orei support didn’t seem to understand what I was taking about which kind of proves it’s not really their tech. Avoid.

Not working

There aren't that many sound extractors that offer HDMI sound output. Most systems that could use that already have arc or earc.This little box can do one of two things. Extract hdmi sound from a source if for some reason the target can't ouput the sound as arc or hdmi.or. provide an earc function if your soundbar or other device has not got that function, or it isn't compatible with your tv.There is a third option, if your target device, like a TV, has no earc, but you have a soundbar or something that can take hdmi sound, but for some reason you don't want to plug the source in directly. perhaps, like my soundbar, it won't do 4k.I'm currently feeding a yamaha ysp 30 D, which can play sound from HDMI, but won't play nice with my LG C1.My only gripe with this nice little box is there is no edid. Any PC connection is stuck in stereo since LG is rubbish with sound in every way that matters.Other boxes that do edid don't do hdmi sound afaict. or if they do, they are stuck at 30hz. I'll keep looking. Maybe one day I'll get back to surround sound after my "upgrade".Oh, fwiw there is no appreciable delay with this box in the setup, unlike the ARC to my now unusable AV receiver, that seemed like it was about half a second, unwatchable sadly. and stuck at 5.1 because not eARC
