beautiful book and simple language.
R. W. gives a precise historical context combined with criticism of fiction and non-fiction writings producing over a long period of time. Definitely a must for literature students....and also for anybody who's interested in the Industrial Revolution and the key concepts and arguments that emerged since that period in the West.ONE THING I FOUND AMISS --- in the contents there is no woman mentioned other than novelists whose works he critiques.

An extraordinary book
Anything by Raymond Williams is great. This book provides an excellent introduction to main currents of culture and intellectual thought in Britain.
