It took forever to find an age appropriate Easter children’s book w a brown Jesus. I give this book a thumbs up. Print is nice and bold, story is true.

Jesus wasn't white
Searched for an Easter book that didn't depict a whitewashed Jesus and landed on this one. The illustrations are beautiful. Will read to my little for many years to come

Not theologically sound
I was excited to read my toddler this book to start explaining the easter story. Unfortunately, the theology is a little off. It says that Jesus taught "if we love each other and don't sin" we can go to heaven and that Jesus came to earth to be a good teacher. Not accurate and not what I want to be teaching my toddler. Will be returning.

Right color, wrong theology
I liked that it portrays Jesus as brown but the theology is DANGEROUSLY erroneous. Stay away from this one.It teaches that Jesus is a teacher of love, essentially and also teaches that our salvation is works-based instead of being a free gift from God when we make Jesus Lord of our lives.Find a different, theologically sound, Easter board book like The Garden, The Curtain, and The Cross

Not theologically sound
I do like the illustration, but it is not clear that Jesus IS God. And it also says “Jesus taught the disciples that if they loved one another and did not sin, they would join God in heaven for eternity.” This implies works based salvation in my eyes. It also says that Jesus’ “purpose in life was to teach the ways of God”. But ultimately His purpose was to bring salvation to all. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.“I understand it’s a children's book, but there’s definitely a way to correct the theology while still keeping it simple. Will return and search for a better option.
