Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting

A really interesting and informative book. His television shows were amazing.

I first came across Bob Ross and his painting style only about 3 months ago and it was a revelation to me. The Bob Ross TV programmes show that it is possible to create a beautiful painting in about 25 minutes. With me as a beginner it takes more like 2 hours but I have already acheived what might be some passable results .... I hope to get much better with experience. Some of the paintings shown in this book are so detalied they look almost photographic and are a joy to look at even if you don't want to paint something yourself so the book is worth buying even just to look at it. Better still give the paintings a try. As a suggestion, make sure you brush out the excess paint - as Bob guides you to do - so that it is easier to apply the next level of detail to your masterwork Good luck

I watched Bob Ross on TV many years ago, but was recently inspired to start painting again due to seeing a clip from his programme. His clear instruction on how to create effects is amazing and his paintings are stunning. Beautiful book and highly recommended.

This book is well worth the money. Ross was a real genius. He was very very clever with his way of painting, and his commentary all through is lovely. So sad that he died so young. This book has loads of paintings. Apparently he never sold one. They are all in US. Treasured. His equipment the company sells is excellent - just buying more now. All available on Amazon.

Well worth the money, a very informative book with some step by step instructions for some of bobs paintings, there’s lots of beautiful paintings throughout the book that you just want to have a go at painting , you won’t be disappointed, you can do anything in your world.

Got this as a gift for my Mum for Christmas. If you’ve ever watched Bob paint, it’s simply jaw dropping the speed at which he weaved gorgeous pictures. But on the TV, they can’t be appreciated as much as seeing them in print. This book has high-quality prints of lots of his artwork as well as some nice quotes and detail on some techniques used. Bob seemed such a nice guy and was lovely and relaxing to listen too. He said many a nice thing and you’ll find many of his quotes and thoughts here too. It’s a lovely book to dip in and out off. Get one for your coffee table for all to enjoy.

This book is a great accompaniment to the T.V series on BBC4 showcasing Bob's artistry. His wonderful paintings are a joy to behold, and to see how they can be done in 30 minutes is truly amazing, using the wet on wet method. Each time the programme is on, I go to this book to see if the painting is in there. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Can't expect all the paintings to be in this book, as he did thousands. We have a framed print of one of his paintings and it is gorgeous. This book is brilliant and is one of those books that one can keep picking up and looking through it and see different things in each painting.

I just spent the most enjoyable two hours exploring this book from cover to cover. The book is top quality throughout filled with some paintings I had seen before and have even attempted to paint. Many others I’d never seen and I’m excited to give them a try with my own brushes. There are several paintings that include play by play instructions, and every so often there is a page with a “Bobism” quote. I found myself chuckling with every one. What a lovely man with the Masters touch exuded in his so peaceful and beautiful art, and through his wisdom of life expressed so eloquently in just a few words. Don’t pass this one up, it’s a gem.

Lorsque je l’ai reçu j’ai eu des larmes de bonheur! Chaque vidéo YouTube de Bob Ross visionnée je prenais une capture d’écran en guise de rappel! Maintenant, je n’ai plus à faire cela par les nombreuses peintures photographiées dans ce livre! Toutefois, il n’y seulement 15 peintures avec les étapes expliquées au grand complet avec les mêmes couleurs au début puis plus de couleurs pour les derniers! Le livre est fait par gradation de difficulté à faire, ce qui est bien! J’imagine pour les aventuriers, pour les autres photos constitueront un défi de taille! Par contre, je conseille aux gens de regarder les vidéos de Bill Alexander qui a été son coach pendant six mois au début des années 80’, car dernier explique le pourquoi de ce qu’il fait qui ressemble aux théories de base pour la technique du « wet on wet », à savoir pour les débutants avec plus raffinement! Je conseille vivement cet achat qui vaut son prix d’or, surtout usagé et en excellente condition pour celui que j’ai reçu comme neuf! Je le garderai précieusement dans ma bibliothèque, car je ne suis pas prête de le revendre de si tôt! Donc c’est un A+++++ sans équivoque! Achetez le matériel nécessaire tel qu’il est recommandé pour cette technique du XVe siècle aux des peintres Flamands qui ont utilisés cette technique particulière et qui a été popularisé sur nos petits écrans télé pendant 11 ans par ces deux instructeurs artistes de réputation internationale qui n’est plus à faire! Achetez de livre merveilleux pour ces nombreuses peintures qui sauront vous inspirer de peinturer comme l’avez toujours rêvé d’essayer sous cette technique “Wet on Wet “ en une seule fois!
