Circle Dogs

丸い犬・・・・なんかそれだけで子供は・・・ん？と覗き込んできます。この作者の絵はいつもシンプルで色もカラフルで楽しいです。寝てる時は丸くなる犬達のほのぼのとした一日を追った絵本です。

The visiting librarian read this book to the children in my preschool class.I enjoyed it as much as the children, so I ordered it for us the next day. I loved how Kevin Henkes captured the typical life of a dog (sleep, run around like crazy, bark, then sleep). It didn't have lots of words, so even my youngest students stayed involved. Calling the dogs circle dogs was a unique and amusing way to describe the dachshunds. The references to other shapes was helpful to my class as we had spent the week talking about how all things have a shape. We all loved the book the second time as much as the first.

We started reading this book to our daughter around a year or18 months. At four years old, we still pull it out and read it. It's especially relatable since we have a dog. It talks about the silly, quirky, and sometimes bad things dogs do. Great author and illustrator. I bought this on Amazon because I had a very old paperback copy from my classroom that was falling apart. The hard cover has not had one problem.
