Works fantastic
I use my green egg smoker quite often. I purchased this product after the original lighter burned out. This lighter is great. Several different speeds. Great airflow to get the lump charcoal going. Very durable. This was a great purchase.

New Model is AMAZING!!
Works easily with less mess. Also, you can use to start a charcoal grill, fire pit or whatever else. Quick and easy!

I loved this until I burned it up. Literally.
This grill lighter is great. It's costlier than others but it's worth the money, in my opinion. It has a low speed, heated option to start your fire then a cool, high speed fan to get your lit coals to roaring. But absolutely never set it and walk to your track can and get sidetracked. I did. I came back to Little more than a cord and handle. That was totally my fault and has no bearing on the performance of this grill-lighting masterpiece.

Great device, needs material improvement?
We have two models of the Looftlighter. Both models In my image have less than 6 months of weekend use on them. The outer sleeves are melted away on both. These sleeves are made of aluminum which seems like a poor material choice due to the lower melting point of, say, stainless steel. It’s also anodized, which discolored after just the first use.I’m not sure if the manufacturer expects you to hold the device far away from the coal you’re trying to ignite, because that clearly won’t put enough heat into the flammable material for it to ignite. If you lay the lighter on the coals closely and let it work long enough to get a good flame stoked, the end of the lighter becomes too hot for the aluminum sleeve, which melts away over time.I love these lighters for our Kamado grill, and will probably modify/upgrade them myself with a stainless sleeve. I feel that It’s necessary because the inner heating element tube is supported in the tip by the outer sleeve. So, without that support the heating tube is loose and flops around, surely a problem for longevity.

15 Minutes and Ready to Grill
15 minutes from start to ready to grill on a Kamado Joe. Only about 2 minutes to get the coals started and then use the air to distribute the heat over surrounding coals. 5 more minutes to start the coals. Then distribute the coals and add the grate and let the grill heat up. 8-10 minutes later the grill is ready to go at 400 degrees. Huge improvement over 1st generation Looft Lighter and much easier and more reliable than lighting bricks. Worth the extra money.

This just works
I had a no name brand of this and decided to give this a try. It lights coals, I kid you not, in 1 minute or less. I’ve used this on XL lump charcoal, B&B tiny lump, and briquettes no problem. You can do minion method with one hand tied behind your back. Forget the chimney starter.
