Great saw. Note that it uses a twist lock plug.
The saw itself works great. Heavy duty build design but not so heavy it gets hard to work with when using it all day. One thing that wasn't in the product listing when I ordered mine was that it uses a twist lock plug. The listing has since been updated, but it wasn't there originally.I got the saw just in time to start working on a new, larger pen outback for our chickens. We set up, were just about to start cutting and I discovered the twist lock plug on the end when I went to get plugged in. This resulted in a need to send someone to the hardware store to buy an adapter. Not a huge deal, but time could have been saved had we known it came with this kind of connection. Fortunately we were working in a location close enough to a hardware store that it didn't take a lot of time to get one. Had we been working at our previous house which is more rural, it could have resulted in an hour drive there and back to the closest store with the needed attachment.Other than the surprise about the plug, everything else about the saw has been working great. We used it pretty much constantly to make cuts over a period of three days while putting together the pen. Everything works fine and overall I'm pleased with the its performance.

Nice powerful saw, a tad lighter then my old worm drive saw
The media could not be loaded. The saw is not really any different than my 20 year old worm drive saw, they both draw 15amps this one runs a little faster at 5300 rpm my old one runs at 4600 RPM. I do like the higher speed of the SKIL saw makes for a nicer cut. The SKIL saw is almost exactly 1 pound lighter, not breaking any records for being really light, it is still a heavy saw when using for long periods of times starts to wear on the hand and wrist. It comes with your typical short handled knuckle buster wrench that stores in the saw for changing out the blade. The saw has the typical lock button on the opposite size of the blade to be used when loosening or tightening the bolt for the blade. There is a connection point for a guide on the front side of the saw but it does not come with a guide, at least mine did not. There is also the rafter hanger hook on the side of the saw which has spring loaded divot stops and swings in/out easy. The twist lock electrical cord is nice if your using a full length extension cord with this type of connector but if looking to use an adapter to convert it over it makes it pointless. Instead swap out the cord with a standard plug uses 3 wire 14awg and takes about 20 minutes to change out, all the screws can be removed with a slotted screw driver or better with a torex driver. Nice to know if you damage your cord too its not the end of the world it can easily be replaced.

Can't go wrong here
I'm a journeyman carpenter (25+ years framer) and started out with a used hd77 which is essentially the same saw just a bit heavier. I still use that saw daily and after 30+ years of heavy use it's still making me money. This is a great light corded saw. It's tried and true design is durable, rugged and made to take a beating and last for years. It has a built in sky hook (rafter hook) that is designed for dimensional 2x material, an on-board blade wrench that stays fast in the well designed storage spot very nicely. The cord end on this particular model is a twist lock end as opposed to the standard 3 prong ends that are the most common. The twist lock end is a nice feature to keep from accidentally getting unplugged or losing a ground and in some places twist lock cords and tools are required per safety regulations. I have zero reservations recommending this saw, especially for anyone wanting to get into the carpentry trade.

Great saw but for most households needs a power adaptor to use it.
We love this circular saw. My husband does work around the house himself so he has every tool imaginable, except his circular saw was a bit old. Finally we got a new one and this one does not disappoint. This one has lots of power, comfortable ergonomic design, adjustable blade depth. I would not say this is light weight, but it isn't super heavy either like his old one. When we bought this saw, the listing did not indicate that it comes with the twist lock power cord (it does clearly say that now). Some job sites require to have that type of connection but most households do not have that type of outlet. So, you will need an adaptor for this saw, 5-15P to L5-20R converter. I bought a simple one here on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004SQGI?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsThe adaptor works great and now we have a working saw. If you choose to use that type of adaptor, just remember, the reason the saw has a twist plug so that it does not disconnect accidentally. Now that we are using the adaptor, that safety feature is no longer there.

Nice!
I’ve had a few cheap versions of this kind of saw and man, I wish I had just spent a little more than I did at the big box harbor hardware store. This one is really good for precise cuts on all kinds of materials. I managed to knock out some of the bucket list holiday décor projects I’ve been wanting to do for a while and really love this thing. My husband still prefers his Milwaukee but the SKIL was the OG and I love it.
