Very robust and comfortable to use
Does a good job and very comfortable to use with the straps doesn't put much strain on your back like other machines. The battery lasts longer than on the mower that shares it and so you can finish most tasks in one go.The only complaint is for the price the instructions are poor, as although it gives you a list of parts it doesn't tell you what they do or where they go. And doesn't inform you that the bolt that holds the blade on goes on anti clockwise not clockwise as normally

Better Brushcutter than Strimmer with 1.6 mm
I have a large range of Ryobi garden tools so battery compatibility key for me.Old petrol twin strimmer line needed replacing. Its light and yes whilst instructions could be better it didnt take long to get it assembled. They do show which way to screw and bolt if you read them carefully. The strimmer spool is definitely not well explained and tells you to align something that isn't obvious. Basically push it twist about 5mm to engage some lugs into position. It should spring back once securing nut is in play. However having enjoyed a strimmer with 3mm diameter cutting cable the 1.6mm on this is no comparison and wont handle anything significant certainly not even small nettles. How Ryobi think that such a substantial tool can be so useless at 1.6mm is rediculous.2.5mm fits nicely onto the spool and transforms it completely. Oregon techni 280 in this case.It says to simply buy a new spool of strimmer wire when empty which is not only rediculous waste you cannot find it on Amazon rather just the complete replacement head. I sense I will manage to get new cable onto it when the time comes.Dont buy the add on plastic bladed edger offered as a package as it is not compatible with this tool.

A great tool
Brush cutters are not the easiest but this one replaced my old petrol one. It is noticeably lighter and does the job great. Like all brush cutters, it takes a little practice to get the best cuts but you realise quickly that this Ryobi machine is match for the petrol alternatives.I bought this as a bare tool as I have batteries for the range. With two 5 batteries, I keep going for an hour at full tilt, I would recommend the larger batteries for good clearance.Certainly a good value win for me and would recommend

DEATH to weeds
Great fun and easy to use, just be carful of items that the weeds have grown over… go a few sparks from old iron bar… and a bit of a bounce.. but actually that’s where this maybe safer than the bigger ones as it is still fully controllable

I've got a few one+ gadgets. I wish I'd never bothered with this strimmer
I was looking to replace my old strimmer which had done me proud for years. Being pleased with my other Ryobi one + tools and deciding that the extra money might be worth it, I took the plunge. I use that phrase because to be honest, what I got from reviews was that the best cordless strimmer would have been the brand I was pleased with previously and it was also a fraction of the price. The pull towards the Ryobi was the fact that it was marketed as a strimmer and brush cutter with a hefty metal blade for tough weeds.I'm pretty handy and reasonably intelligent but I could not put the last component on the unit and get it to work. The instructions were not written (because they would have had to translate so many times and that would have taken a whole tree for each booklet they would have to print)... no they were just pictures which when you're having a problem is simply inadequate. The part which container the strimmer cord I could not get to stay on the strimmer head. If you tightened it, there was sound but no movement. If you loosened it so it moved, it went round but then fell off. I wasted hours trying to work out what was wrong. I emailed Ryobu for some support and received an automated email and over a week later, I am still waiting for support. VERY disappointed. It's not good enough. Incidentally what is also not good enough is that I am still waiting for my refund from Amazon (I won't even get my full full return costs of almost £11 back - had to cover the value of the item at £150). Don't buy this. It's very potchy. I bought an electric Black and Decker (should have done it first as it was great before)...straight out of the box and so easy to work out what was what that I didn't need instructions. I was using it in minutes. It's powerful enough to do all but the very thickest of bramble and the weeds that I wasted about 3 weeks looking at and not strimming because I was let down by Ryobi are now gone.Ryobi promised to contact me asap...wonder how much longer that will be?After my experience I will think twice about buying an expensive/bulky item from Amazon. Total waste of time and effort...ages to pack and send the beeping thing back too. They better hurry up with that refund as I'm so annoyed with the whole business.

Cuts well
A great improvement in sweating and sweating over a badly behaved petrol version... A battery lasts about half an hour. Not enough for a serious professional but good enough for an amateur with a bramble problem...

Good but not perfect
This brush cutter only runs for about 12 to 16 mins with my existing 4ah battery which isn’t very convenient. I’m loathed to buy another battery but I’ll have to in order to get a better usable time. The blade is ok for undergrowth but rubbish for grass. The line itself doesn’t extend with bump feed and I find myself having to extend it manually as required. It’s ok but not outstanding and I’m going to have to buy a more powerful petrol version as I need to cut for an hour or so at a time.
