Q: Do they all have a black painted stripe on the back?

I believe so. Mine has a black stripe on the back and around the edge as well. For a first uke I have been told that it has a nice tone. I replaced the strings with Martin ones as I like the feel and sound of that brand better. I am happy with this purchase.

Q: Are the body edges sharp or rounded? i have a makala shark, which is comfortable, and a kala ka-15s, which is so sharp it's unbearable to play.

The body edges are fine the fret board was a little rough when I received it, so I sanded the sides slighty.

Q: Is this a solid wood or laminate?

It is a laminate. You will not find a solid wood ukulele with figured wood in this price range or even close to it. It's a nice ukulele and looks great and has good tone.

Q: Does it come with a case?

I think it came with a gig bag, not sure!
