Im 5'5 144lbs, jeans size 4-6 or size 27 in dress pants. My actual waiste is 30in, and 39in hips. I got the size C. There is no vanity sizing in Spanx. They are true to your actual body measurements. They fit like a glove. I can get them on pretty easily, they are tight and snatched. I can breath, and they dont flatten my butt or roll down. I think the reason people are ripping them, Is because they are choosing a size too small and struggling trying to get into them. Ive not had any issues with them ripping. If you are in between sizes, size up.

The nylon part of these tore the second I pulled them out of the package. I liked the idea of the nylon at the bottom of this shapewear item but it really is a poor design overall. This is not a cheap item and nylon is known to run/tear very quickly. If Spanx is going to offer such a product at $40, then they need MUCH tougher nylon. I am going to have to start my search over for shapewear, and it won't include anything with nylon.

Just what I was looking for - I wanted a slimming capri shapewear garment and these spanx fit the bill. At 5'6" and 145 lbs, I simply needed something to smooth and lightly compress under dress pants and tight jeans without any visible lines. I ordered size C and it was right on for overall fit and comfort. This is definitely a high waisted garment - the top fits right below my bra and happily does not roll down. The leg bottoms hit me just above the ankles. It's a bit of a struggle to get them on, but once in place, it's great and I can breathe and move about with ease. The fabric, while feeling quite strong compression-wise, is not so heavy as to be too hot - I think it'll actually be a beneficial layer in the cold winters where I live...like really light weight, snug long underwear. I gave this item 4 stars, rather than 5, for a couple of reasons: 1. The cross over split at the crotch is not a long enough opening for practical purposes. It's dang near impossible to hold open while taking care of business (it takes both hands). After one attempt, I decided it was much easier just to pull the garment down when using the restroom. 2. The leg bottoms are made of a much lighter material, almost just like panty hose. Haven't had a problem yet, but it feels like they could easily snag and run, which would be a drag, although it might not ultimately matter since I'll always wear them under pants. The material transition just above the knees from heavier compression fabric to the light hosiery like fabric below just doesn't make sense to me. The one good thing is that the transition is seamless...no visible lines. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend them to friends.
