Like Charlotte Moss books, nice reference and coffee table books
Recently discovered Charlotte Moss, ordered this one and a couple others, very nice large lovely books, coffee table, scrap booking information, decor, design, I love her! A great read, eye candy for the decorator designer, and always learning something here. Read all the reviews like I did, and form your own opinion. I love to learn and always changing up my home with this or that, I really like this book in particular and her for sure. It is good for one with a limited income, like me, as well as others that have the cash to go high end stuff. Enjoy, have fun decorating, and remember, whether you decorate with thrift finds ( like me!) or shop the furniture stores, it will look great because you did it yourself! You are the creative soul in your own home, so have a blast and get started. It doesn't take a ton of money either. Enjoy!

Creating A Room
I must say that I have become a true spend thrift with the aid of Amazon.com. As an artist with a special interest in interiors, I desired to build a library of decorating books so that I could have information and visual aids right at my finger tips at any time. I decided to do that by buying used books. One book I paid one penny for....can you imagine? This particular book came to me in short order through the mail and in pristeen condition. One would think that I had paid full price. I am truelly a satisfied customer and will long enjoy spending my money for used books at Amazon.com. Who has to feel poor when you can feel rich by buying from Amazon.

Useful decorating principles
The introduction to this book is well conceived and very helpful. The examples of layouts are quite interesting but a little grand for the average person. Still this book is a keeper.

Very helpful
I thought the "stages" shown in this book were very helpful. True, I don't own the type of home shown but one can easily interpret the ideas to suit a more modest home and budget. I purchased this book after her newest book, "A Winter House" (so very scrumptous!}.

How to Create a Room
With colorful illustrations by James Steinmeyer, this book demonstrates how you can decorate rooms in stages. Stage one show in black and white drawings rooms with the large pieces of furniture placed. Stage two illustrated in color a first layer of decorative items: lamps, upholstery, small occasional pieces and pillows. Stage three adds accessories: books, flowers, art-work, personal items. Then you see four variations on areas of the room like a tablescape or mantel. There are three living rooms, two dining rooms, two bedrooms and three family rooms. Each room has a color palette and fabric combination. For folks who want to see how to create a room, this shows how to build it. I use these illustrations in a design class I teach and students like it.
