no this is to lift your front wheel up whilst on a turbo. it's the turbo that turns your bike.

I have Tacx Flux trainer - will this raise the front wheel enough to take the strain off my hands?

No it keeps the wheel still, but not raise the wheel a great deal

I purchased one. it has just arrived. it appears to raise the wheel by about 2cm. what is the point? am i using it wrong?

it stops the wheel moving and keeps the bike steadier to prevent you having to keep the bike in place
