**Q: Has anyone bought the 6 or 10 gallon pail? Looking for the dog poo bucket but don't want it too big as my 10 year old is in charge of emptying**
A: Coincidentally, I ordered both at the same time. The 6 gallon is definitely the way to go for your needs. I really don’t think you want 10 gallons of poo in a can. Plus, if that all your using it for, you can use inexpensive trash can liners or plastic grocery bags.

**Q: Material??? One place says "steel" but another spot says "plastic."**
A: These cans are made with galvanized steel. No plastic at all in the construction. Nice and solid. Most importantly for me, rodent proof.

**Q: Is it raccoon proof?**
A: To make my 20 gallon can raccoon proof (I keep bird feed in it) I had to run a small chain from one can handle through the lid handle to the other can handle. I put a removable link in the chain to be able to access the bird food.

**Q: The Behrens 10 gal. states it will hold a 50 lb. bag of dog food/bird seed.  What gallon capacity of dog food or bird seed will the 6 gal. pail hold?**
A: I have the 10 gal. Only holds about 40 lbs. Fish food.

We bought this to store bird food in. We used to store it in plastic 5 gallon buckets with lids, but the squirrels and chipmunks would chew through them and get to the seed. This is very sturdy, and the handle locks the lid down tightly. So far, has been rodent proof and waterproof. I would buy again should the need arise. Oh yeah…. Ours had a handle on the lid so if you didn’t you got ripped. I put silicone on the tabs that attach the handle to the lid to make sure moisture could not get in as we store this outside in the elements. Update after 2 years: Still working like a champ. Very happy. It remains outside in the elements (Michigan) all year round. We did notice a tiny bit of birdseed that had stuck down in the bottom corner this year, about a tablespoon. Probably from condensation but very doubtful it was from leaking. I would buy again, in fact I did just buy the 10 gallon version.
