Best. Hitch. Ever.
If you’re like me, you find yourself frequently searching for a better towing setup. I’ve found it in the Gen Y Glyder torsion hitch.I don’t need weight distribution for my travel trailer amd diesel Excursion. Fully loaded, I scale at 620lbs tongue weight and 6k lbs gross. No matter which trailer I had, I was always jealous of those people who said “I don’t even know it’s back there!” Now I know that feeling, and it’s glorious. For those of you also towing lighter trailers with 3/4 or 1-tons, or German SUVs that recommend against weight distribution, give this hitch a try. It’s truly incredible.

Excellent
We are very happy with ours and we can’t feel the trailer behind us. Certainly takes a lot of pressure off the car.

Worth the price premium!
In total, I would give this 4.5 stars. Overall, the idea behind this is brilliant, and it works. The small downgrade is for minor quality control issues as well as fit and finish. The thickness of the metal used makes it difficult to bend and shape aspects of the design. This leads to minor inconsistencies in the final product - without effecting actual function. The finish is nice, although it is relatively easy to damage. I would have been happy with an aluminum version as well, due to the fact this thing is pretty darn heavy all by itself. With all that said - when it comes down to pure functionality, this earns a 5 out of 5. And I rated it accordingly. My vehicle is a 2013 BMW X5 35d. It’s the 3.0 liter inline 6 turbo-diesel version of the vehicle. The vehicle is a unibody SAV, so the tendency for such a vehicle is to transmit a lot of vibration and jarring into the cabin during towing - because everything is in essence directly connected. This is unlike a truck style body over frame SUV, which tends to isolate occupants from essentially everything. This ball mount effectively isolated the vast majority of vibration and jarring that would normally be transmitted into the vehicle, making the towing experience so much less noisy and stressful.Previous towing with a standard setup was nerve racking at best. You felt every bump, clunk and vibration from the trailer. I towed nearly 5000 lbs with this ball mount and I found myself frequently checking the rear view to make sure the trailer was still behind the vehicle... because it was that quiet and vibration free.I would say my first impressions are that this is worth the added cost on the reduction of noise and vibration alone. I can’t speak to longevity as of yet because I’ve only towed once with this ball mount. I can’t say I saved any fuel with this, and there really is no way to say this saved tire wear either, as claimed by the manufacturer. However, I don’t dispute the claims either. An unfortunate byproduct of the smoothness of this product was the fact I drove faster than normal while towing as the lack of noise instills a level of comfort and confidence not present with a standard ball mount. That is worth noting as a ticket is no fun.

Quieter and smoother than standard hitches
Towed my boat 12 hours… definitely absorbs the hard thuds while driving with a trailer. Sometimes I feel like it exaggerates the swells because it doesn’t let the tow vehicle calm the trailer down and instead flexes a little bit extra. My biggest complaint is when disconnecting my trailer, which sometimes is done on a slightly sloped driveway, the ball sometimes get stuck inside the coupler because it flexes. Under slight tension a rigid mount pops free, but the torsion mount either requires me to jump back in the truck and move it slightly or I put a crazy amount of tension on the trailer jack to make it pop free. But these two inconveniences are minor in comparison to the comfort of the smoother ride. I’ll never tow long distances without it.

Mind blown
This thing is amazing. My husband text me the first time he hauled our boat with this trailer hitch and said his only regret was not buying it sooner! It’s very noticeable and a much smoother ride than with a regular hitch. Worth every penny!
