Capable Internet-controlled power switch
This was a straight replacement following the failure of its predecessor's power supply (after a number of years operating 24/7). It's a trusted unit. Control is available by direct Web page and an App, but I have a private Web page to allow authorised shutdown operators to issue the command for one port, so control options are very flexible. Postscript: the PSU of the first device was a separate PCB, so eaaily replaced and working again as a spare!

Written off as a bad experiment.
Junk. CPU is so unreliable it defeats the whole idea of the device. Written off as a bad experiment.

The IEC ports on the back have very poor connectivity.
The IEC ports on the back are very poor and only connect AC current in the last 2mm of pushing the plug in, resulting in a really unreliable connection unless you use tie-wraps to hold them in physically - A major flaw in any device like this. Also, the 'one button to control 4 ports' on the front requires far too much figuring out - Don't use it. Another poor feature is the limit of 8 characters for the login password. For the price I would of expected a far better product.

I love it, and I love what it can do
I love it, and I love what it can do. Maybe the web management part could be revisited with a more modern design, and some little things like the MAC address sticker attached somewhere, and a better management overall, could be improved. So, my opinion is that the hardware is good, the software needs improvements.I love the fact that I can switch the plugs on and off from the other side of the world ;-)

Robust and reliable - what you need for remote power control.
Have bought 5 of these IP Power boxes for remotely managed network installations. The oldest have been in service 2 years and have never needed rebooting or locked up.The HTML based UI is clunky at best, but you get 4 individually controllable power sockets plus some basic scheduling ability which will be more than enough for most users.Would get 5-stars if the UI was better.

Works well
I have two of these to control various equipment at home. On the plus side it's simple to set up and works well, and up to four devices can be powered on and off independently. On the downside, there's no way to control the power from the physical device itself (in other words there's no power switches on the front of the IP9258 itself). There's an Android app which you can use easily to power things on and off though (have a look on Google Play for PowerIP).
