Denix 1861 US Civil War Mini Cannon

Nice old fashioned look; brass barrel.

I had purchased the Denix Naval deck cannon and was extremely pleased with it. I used to buld highly detailed scale models and can recognize at least fair model quality. I haven't checked for any actual scale dimensions, nor am I any expert, but this model appears to be on the small side as compared to scale of the Naval cannon. Also, the finish is a silvery metallic surface -- except for the nicely done faux 'brass' barrel/cannon itself. I plan to attempt to color/paint the carriage and wheels in a wood-like finish to better approximate the original. This as-built metallic finish looks really strange, peculiar, to me. Just doesn't work. Overall, as this appears to be some kind of pot metal casting, if you're looking for fine detail, this isn't it. But .... generally, it's executed well enough to be enjoyable to study. As to attempting to actually "shoot" this decoration? Total lunacy! Like building a plaster cast of a rifle and attempting to fire an actual cartridge from same!!! DO NOT attempt this. Packaging? Though the model appears fragile, I would rate packaging as excellent!! Appeared that great care was taken in shipping preparation. Very well cushioned, well isolated from crush/impact damage I would judge. The product arrived in perfect, flawless condition with no damage to product OR its protective packaging. And yes .... I do plan to purchase a seond one, just for display. Okay .... and here is update. I just received the second of two of these I'd planned to order. Like the first, it arrived in perfect, flowless condition. Well packaged, cushioned, contained in two boxes, outer, and inner. The pair create an impressive display. Pleased with both products.

Kudos to Amazon, the product was surprisingly a lot more quality than I thought. It was real pewter. Metal. I’m sure before the driver touched it. It was great. Unfortunately I received the product broken. The driver threw my package at my door as I witnessed it on the ring camera. I glue the product back together with superglue looks amazing a nice little display

Ordered this cannon for a civil war enthusiast. This is a quality piece, good weight, nice details. I am very happy with this purchase and I like it so much I will probably order another one for my house to display.

Purchased this cannon as a gift for my 11-yr-old grandson who is fascinated by the Civil War. This has held his interest as it is a quality product. It is not a toy, but can be held and appreciated nonetheless.

The products are overall really good quality in metal but the boxes were not properly packaged with bubble wrap or any secure material just plain and punched through the box and out the other packaging. I wish they used bubble wrap.
