Q: Hanging instructions don’t make sense to me. Can somebody explain?

Push the white plastic ( pins into wall) where you want to hang (so hook if facing out). Attach the metal clip (so it creates a hole for the hook) onto the backboard of frame. There are picture instructions right in the description of the item you purchased.

Q: Is the mat acid free?

The information that came with the frame did not mention whether the mat was acid free. I did not use it for any photo or art piece that I wanted to preserve, so I didn't really care. The frame itself is very nice and sturdy. I like the look. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Q: Would an 8x8 tile (thicker than a picture) fit in this frame?

It should fit as far as being 8x8." The inside of my frame is just a hair less than 8." The frame could be whittled down a bit on the back if necessary. 3/8" thick tile might fit. Anything smaller in thickness will. I love this frame.

Q: is there matting to accommodate a 12 x 15 photo?

You can always pay for a custom Matt from any frame shop.
