Replaced my Anode Rods in Louisiana and what I found was so disgusting when I extracted the old rods as the water heaters are placed in the attic. The old rods were very difficult to extract due to the placement of the water heaters and the roof line. These were super easy to install once the old were removed. Great value to ensure you protect the steel tank from rust and corrosion through a process called electrolysis. This product removes minerals and corrosive elements that can affect the quality of your water heater and smell of your water.

Easy to install being flexible helps a ton, very well made and should give my heater a few more years. Very happy

Podoy Flexible Anode Rod: A Lifesaver for Tight Spaces I finally got around to replacing the original anode rod in my water heater, a task I'd been dreading because my unit is shoved in a closet with barely any clearance above it. There was no way a straight, 44-inch rod was going to fit. This flexible Podoy rod was the perfect solution. The segmented, hinged design is brilliant. It bent easily to snake it up and into the tank without having to dismantle anything around the water heater. The installation was surprisingly straightforward—just remember to turn off the water and power first! The 3/4-inch NPT thread screwed in perfectly on my Rheem unit. I used a healthy amount of pipe dope on the threads and haven't had a single leak. It's only been a few months, so I can't speak to its long-term corrosion protection yet, but it's doing its job so far. The real win here is the design. For anyone with a water heater in a tight, awkward space, this flexible rod makes a necessary maintenance job actually possible without calling a plumber. The only thing to note is that it feels a bit lighter than the original solid rod I pulled out, but that's to be expected given its flexible nature. For the price, it seems like a well-made part that does exactly what it promises. Bottom Line: An absolute necessity for DIYers with limited overhead space. It makes replacing your anode rod a feasible one-person job and could save you hundreds on a service call.

I’ve now installed my third water heater, as the previous two developed leaks just before the warranty expired. I'm not holding out much hope for this one, and we’ve also been dealing with our dishes smelling after every wash, despite having a new dishwasher and using city water. To address this, I decided to try a powered anode rod. These rods all operate on the same principle: a titanium rod powered by a small energy source that helps eliminate sulfur and rotten egg smells. Removing the old anode rod was straightforward—if you have an impact tool to break it loose, then switch to a ratchet. Be cautious with the impact tool to avoid increase of rotational motion, which could be problematic if the rod is heavily worn or corroded... just a fyi. Installing the powered rod was simple: just plug it in and forget about it. But b4 doing that, I wanted to perform a few checks. Out of the box, I measured 3 volts between the metal casing and the titanium rod. I noticed that when I plugged in the transformer, the LED was lit even before connecting it to the rod. What I would of liked to have seen is the LED light up ONLY when rod was plugged in indicating the rod is functional and drawing minimal current. Just not knowing how reliable this product is, I guess only way to check is remove the rod and measure voltage every 6 months/yr/2yrs... Cheers

This anode replaced the exact same one that I installed six years ago. All the parts I needed except for the socket wrench, were in the package, which was a great time saver. The old anode had done its job well and probably had only a few months left and our water is very hard. My water heater is now 16 years old, and hopefully regular anode replacements will extend that lifespan many more years. Considering the cost of replacement, this product give great value.

I purchased this anode rod in January and just tried to install it today. The threads are buggered up and it would not thread into my water heater. I tried for over an hour. Finally I gave up , went to a Ace Hardware and purchased a rod for $33. Fit perfectly and no issues treading the rod into the water heater. I’d say the screw threads are not machined properly and therefore the anode rod is useless.

Great. Easy to install, like the flex nunchuck style, like that they gave me the teflon tape and I added pipe dope above the reflow (self provided), like that they supply the 1 - 1/16" socket.

Three years ago I bought a 6 gallon electric water heater and it sprung a leak. I got a replacement under warranty. I took the anode out of the bad water heater and it was almost totally gone. I took the anode out of the new water heater and replaced it with this powered anode. It has been several months and no problems, but won't know if it is working, doing what it is supposed to do until years from now. I'm in San Diego and our water is hard, but otherwise no nasty rotten egg smell ever and I have a water boss softener that removes chlorine and softens with Potassium.

I installed the anode rod but the product didn't come with the socket, just the tape. I could have gotten someone's return possibly. Just not seem right. I would get it if you already have the socket and don't mind the fact that it's not shipped as you see it. Again NO socket included.

Great for tight areas above hot water tank.
