High quality sword / scabbard / shield. Awesome costume accessory
There are a lot of positives for this sword / scabbard / shield combo, and just a few minor nits that probably aren’t an issue for most people using the sword for wall art or as a costume accessory. The sword had a “made in India” label on it.Pros:- Belt is made of a single piece of real leather. Very high quality, very authentic, will likely last a lifetime- The scabbard is also made of real leather, suede texture. It is rigid and protective, and has a rustic look, leading to authentic Viking feel- The belt for hanging the scabbard is super long, so it can be positioned at your waist or worn across your back. The holes go about as small as 32” waist, so you may need to add some holes if you are skinnier than that- If you wear the scabbard at your waist, the angle of the belt is sufficient to draw the sword across your body (for right-handed people). The angle on the belt will make the sword protrude about 18-24” behind you- The blade is made of metal, and is well-constructed. The edge is semi-sharp, and would likely hold a sharper edge- The blade came pre-oiled to prevent rust / corrosion, and to aid with putting into the scabbard- The shield / sword combo looks fantastic when mounted to the wallCons:- Although the sword came very well packaged, there was still a bit of damage (dent) to the tip of the scabbard. The sword was still in perfect condition, however- When I positioned the scabbard on my back, the buckle was directly positioned on the top of my shoulder. That is convenient for getting it on / off by myself, but it was a bit uncomfortable. It would probably be fine if your outfit incorporates some type of shoulder support / armor- The holes for mounting the sword to the shield did not go through the face of the shield, so I had to drill them out the rest of the way- I expected a wooden hilt, but was a bit disappointed in what was obviously a plastic grip/handle with metal guard and pommel. The grip also had an obvious seam between the two halves. I am tempted to Dremel the seam down and wrap the handle in leather (or at least black athletic tape) to make the grip more comfortable and secure- The belt doesn’t easily detach from the scabbard, so if you are wall-mounting this sword when not in use, there’s no real obvious way to tuck the belt away to make it look nice. One option is to just store the scabbard someplace separate, but not an option if you have small children in your houseI did not disassemble the hilt to determine if it is a full tang (single piece of metal in blade through hilt), but based on the 1-inch wide sliver of sword that protrudes into the guard, it is not likely to be a full tang. If it is not a full tang, do not chop things or sword fight as the blade may bend at the hilt, or come loose from the hilt. Despite that potential issue, I think it is a very nice quality costume accessory and would recommend it to others who need a Viking sword for looks rather than functionality.

Impressively detailed!
The first thing you'll notice is the weight. This is a hefty piece of metal and leather. The actual design of the sword and scabbard are simple yet there are all kinds of little details that impressed me. The way the handle is textured, the grooves on the blade, the pommel and hilt. I geeked out a few times while inspecting it, I'm not gonna lie.If you're using this as a decoration on your wall, you'll automatically become the coolest person in your neighborhood. If you're using this for cosplay, well you get the added bonuses of what I just mentioned but you will probably get tired of lugging this thing around. It's hefty and the scabbard is a bit uncomfortable around the waist.Super cool and a great conversation starter. Just don't take it outdoors when there's not a Con or Renaissance fair in town.
