Finally, a bait that really works!!
I don't do many reviews, so here goes. I tried another mouse deterrent from Amazon first (name withheld, but hard green balls) , and didn't have great results. I was going through a handful every day. At first, on the old stuff, I thought I was just attracting more mice. But then I realized that the same mice were eating that stuff every day and coming back for more. I was filling bait stations every day, and they were eating it every day. For weeks. They went through 4 pounds in 5 weeks, so basically I was just feeding mice. Then I tried First Strike, which I didn't try before, because I thought it was too expensive. As this review will show, you get what you paid for. The mice again came and took all the First Strike bait the first day, same as the old bait, but then the next day they just nibbled on my second batch, and then nothing happened for a few weeks. I didn't hear them running around anymore. No droppings. Bait still there. I think that first batch did the trick. So to test that, and make sure they just didn't like the bait, I put cheese and pecans next to the bait, and waited. It remained uneated too, for a few weeks. Then a super cold spell hit, and as anyone who lives in an old drafty house will tell you, that brings the mice inside. I got some new activity, and half the bait was eaten, along with the cheese and pecans. But that was it. So I assume a new group of mice came in from the cold, or a single hungry mouse, found the stash and they too disappeared. This stuff is killer, literally. I have had no activity since, the house is quiet, and that last batch of bait still sits there to catch any stragkers. Now I have a 4 pound bag and have only used maybe a 1/4 pound, so I've given some to coworkers to try. This is the third brand of bait I've tried, along with those electronic gadgets (that don't work) and First Strike is the only bait I've seen results from. It is most definitely worth the extra money it cost.

the best for rats
This is the best product for mice. I've been using it for two years now, it comes in a large quantity, and it works very well.

THIS WORKS, DON"T BOTHER WITH ANYTHING ELSE.
oh my GOSH!. I tried traps of every kind, rat poison availabe from home depot. glue sheets. I caught a few small ones. but the big ones were literally having a party in my walls. I used a piece of wire attached to a can to keep the rats from dragging the poison into the walls. then strung a few on the wire then put it behind the dryer , did another in the pantry. The next morning, the poison packs had clearly been eaten. within 3 days, I heard nothing!.. the fourth day, i found one of the rats near my trashcan. the next day, i found another behind the dryer. Haven't heard a peep since. No more dropping along the walls either. THIS WORKS!

Like Candy to Rats!
Works really well. I never would have believed the rat would take this bait first night! I gave up trying to trap, got a lot but not all with traps. I guess the smart ones avoided the traps and reproduced and I was getting less and less with traps. Also shot dozens if not hundreds over the years with my .22 with a laser sight at night with a flashlight. Didn't really want to use poison but it was my last resort. Rats were getting under the hood of my 2 trucks at night and chewing on wires and crapping and chewing up acorns and making a huge disgusting mess. Bought this bait and placed 2 pouches under the hood of 1 truck. Gone the following morning after the FIRST night! So, I put 1 pouch under each hood of each truck. Gone again! Did it again the 3rd. night, gone again. At that point I stopped, and there has been no signs of any rats since, and that was a month ago! And I was seeing signs every night! FirstStrike is like candy to rats. It is a fatal attraction for rats. I only used a small part of this 4lb. bag. Please Be careful with this stuff. It is really deadly. Store it in a safe place. Don't have an accident.

It works, but they are not gonna go out of their way for it
We have pet Ducks...and with that comes Duck food, which attracted the rats. We used Rat traps ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTJ7KM4N?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 ) ...and then ordered 2 more and then ordered a different brand ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081LG4T1W?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 ) so that is 6 traps combined. We did get 2 rats with these traps..Nice! We thought we were good. Then there were duck food and droppings on the engine of our 97 accord...not good! Thats when we ordered 2 more traps listed above...nothing! Then our dog was sniffing around our LS XR4140 tractor, so I moved the tractor at which point, I saw the rat jump from the tractor to a shrub by the house. CRAP!...I looked under the hood of the tractor to see duck food and droppings as well as the rat had chewed up "insulation" under the hood for nesting....This was war!!! I ordered more traps, catch em alive traps, open faced snap traps (which I didn't use...we have pets), Bait boxes ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TJL4F21?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 ) and ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJFN3M6L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 ) ...gotta be honest, this was a last resort. We move our Ducks pen closer to the house during the really bad winter weather to plug in the brooding lights for heat and much easier to take care of them after the 18" of snow we got. We soon noticed our rat friend had dug a "ditch" on the side of our front cement stairs that was now close to where the ducks cage was and after the snow storm had dug tunnels in the snow to and from the ducks cage. Good right?....we new where the rat was and where it was going. 6 covered snap rat traps listed above were placed around the entry point of the stairs and surrounding area baited with nuts and peanut butter. 2 bait traps also listed above were placed by the stairs as well with this product. The snap traps would be empty of bait...and I soon learned why when a bird had gone there one too many times...again, CRAP! This rat was owning me, and to be honest, I had nightmares a bought it getting into the house. There was a space on top of the stairs where I dropped 3 packets down...figuring our pets would be safe and maybe our rat friend would find this easier. The bait traps and the packets dropped down in the crack were done on 1/29/26. I noticed them gone on or about 2/6/26. On 2/14/26 our "friend" drunkingly staggered out towards the ducks cage and died. My point...The product works, but didn't work in the bait boxes as the bait was never touched there. I hope this review helps!
